I just ordered my uniforms the other day but I don't remember selecting a tie. Are we supposed to purchase that on our own from that company store down the street?

I just looked at the lands end site & reread the bulletin...yes, the ties are at the company store. That being said, they're not on the webpage. Might have to call or go in person.

New hire here, so a few answers and thoughts. The company only gave us one set of epaulettes and one pair of wings. We had to buy the blazer and hat, shirts, pants and belt from M&H. The wings for the hat and tie are at the company store.

The transition jacket is great for southeast flying but it isn't the best jacket for lower 48 ops. So, I ordered the leather jacket today.

And, Pelican, thanks for starting this thread!

New hire here as well. I'd like to second Cricket's sentiment. Not only is the transition jacket great for SE AK ops, it is equally useful in the Arctic...sometimes function is more important than form/style.

I've heard through the grapevine that there are plans to scrap the leather jacket and that it will no longer be a part of the uniform. Can anyone confirm this?

Pelican, thanks for starting the thread.

During flightpath lunch with a bcp, he did say GB had it out for the transition jacket & hats were probably coming back. Nothing about the leather jacket going away though.

If we keep the leather jacket I'm definitely getting it. Once I'm off of 1st year pay that is.

Here's the link for the official leather jacket. I just ordered one but they said 10 weeks since they individually make each one.

Isn't Pops another vendor? I remember seeing Alaska as a selection in their drop down menu. I think their jacket next to a Perrone jacket is much nicer. Who knows though.

Gibson and Barnes makes a jacket that will end up in your last will and testament.

This is why I'd love to work there. The topic of concern among the pilots is a jacket. Someone could make a fantastic internet meme from this thread.
