The route guide is indeed on the ipad.
I can remember actually hauling that thing around as a new hire. At it's peak, my Scott bag weighed 36 pounds with very little except company required stuff.
My back and shoulders are luvin todays technology!

Where did Gary beck mention not wearing that overly priced wet suit jacket they made us buy? Also, I believe hats are made optional in the Contract. Therefore, if they want me to wear a hat, they need to negotiate for it, not simply send out yet another bulletin. I was a 34.3% Kasher victim. I'm not going to work ****ed off anymore, but they've still lost something they'll never get back from me. Hard to say what that is exactly but their scorched earth policy worked.

As a crusty old Captain (upgraded earlier this year after 14 years) I don't do anything different than I did as a FO. I get everyone where they need to go safely and as on time as possible. I don't make a PA from the front of the cabin or on all night/early morning flights. I look as sharp as I can and enjoy the job from the left seat. The fact that the company is going to have to come to grips with is there is a large percentage of pilots here who were adversely affected on 04/30/05. I'm not angry, just a realist.

"A uniform item that is not helping our image is the
transition jacket. I am going to ask that we do not wear the transition jacket
from now until April. Please wear one of the other approved jackets in the
FOM, the blazer and leather jackets resonate with our passengers and reflect
the great pride you have in your professionalism."
Essentially, Gary is asking for voluntary compliance. If he doesn't see enough to satisfy him you can bet he will make a policy change in the FOM. Since they are offering to pay shipping for new uniform items through January 15, I foresee some enforcement action starting next year.
Just a guess.

In a letter about our drop in the JD Power survey dated 12/10/14 Gary said the following:

from now until April. Please wear one of the other approved jackets in the

Thanks. I stopped reading that after the first sentence. The FA's have been without a contract the last few years and they wonder why the JD points are slipping? Sorry Gary, pay me back for that stupid jacket and I'll stop wearing it. Until then...I'll keep sweating in it.
But on topic of the Flt attn TA, I think it looks pretty good. The pay increases are very good for new hires. I'm guessing it's going to pass by about 70% yes.

I have felt the same way for nearly ten years now. And I never fail to remind our VPs that they owe me nearly $500k in back wages. But, lately I've been upgrading my uniform, making PAs from the front of the cabin and engaging passengers on most every flight. And you know what? I'm happier, my blood pressure is lower and I'm less distracted. I enjoy going to work again. I even ordered a hat!
I've been flying with an FO that wears the full uniform all the time and hands out cards to the kids. As I watch him interact with the pax and kids I can see how they are happy and that it makes him happy. I'm tired of being angry. If we have any chance of winning the Battle for Seattle it's going to be because people would rather fly on us. And it's not going to be our shiny new jets that keep them comming. It's going to be competitive fares, convenient schedules and a pleasant experience. I still want my $500k but Even more than that, I need this place to continue to exist long after I retire.

I bought a transition jacket and after a couple trips, it went in the closet and my old, faded San Diego Leather Company jacket reappeared. In retrospect, they probably should have just authorized the Columbia or North Face jackets.
