Sounds like a commuter airline schedule, been there done that. Complete crap.
But Alaska is a legacy airline and you get to be part of their awesome culture |
Im curious. is Rickair7777 a regional guy that posts on everything? or a moderator? im so lost

AS is not a commuter friendly airline. My understanding is they think commuting increases sick time use, negative impacts pick ups on days they need help. Hopefully, this culture will change going forward. Scheduling rule changes are definitely needed going forward to protect and aid commuters.

I’m good with him, his stuff is usually fine. |

I'm curious to know what the pilot groups think regarding the upcoming allocation of Airbus equipment to largely north-south routes (LAXSEA, SEAPHX, etc.) while the 739ER fleet is placed on what were once VX transcons like LAXJFK, SFOJFK, etc. Does the change affect whether or not pre-merger AS pilots would prefer to transfer to Airbus equipment, etc?
Not trying to start a war, I'm just genuinely curious to know what the AS and VX pilots think and how it might color your perspectives on the integration. |

First of all, I’m not at either Alaska or Virgin, but I speak as a pilot. I think you view what pilots want incorrectly. You are assuming we bid an aircraft based on routes. I don’t know of many pilots that do that. Most pilots bid on where they want to be based. If a pilot lives in one of the domiciles then they will bid that base no matter what the routes are. If the pilot commutes then they will bid the base that allows for the best commute, not the route.
For me, I bid the base that I want to live in and I really don’t care what the routes are or if I fly a Cessna 172 or a Boeing 747. I just want to be based where I live. If you want to know how people will bid, it will be on where they want to be based, not the routes the aircraft are flying. |

That is certainly not the case at Delta. Many pilots bid routes and equipment.
