This is long, but necessary to clear some things up. If you enjoy Allegiant that’s great. If you don’t, then you can take your experience and time with you somewhere else.

Yes I did commute, but I don’t know if you guys think I lived in a crash pad or what, but absolutely not. I met one FO who was doing a pad. Absolutely no clue how anyone could do that here.

I had a fully furnished apartment over by the IKEA. It was a brand new and I was the first tenant. Nice amenities and pool/gym. I liked it. I had another car I drove out to Vegas.

I made friends, both at work and outside of work that I hung out with. I play a ton of golf and joined a club nearby. I wasn’t sitting in a crash pad miserable. I had a life while at work out there.

I spent a year in SFB and then Vegas. I actually enjoyed Vegas because the schedules, in that base, were predictable. I was home the same 3 nights (once a month maybe 4 nights) a week. My commute was relatively easy. Both company metal 4-5 days week and Southwest daily. I was off every Saturday so when friends were in town we would hang/party.

The reason I didn’t like Allegiant had nothing to do with me commuting. You can chose to believe that or not. I really don’t care. Here is why I didn’t like Allegiant (as a long term career).

The variety of flying got very very old. Both SFB and LAS are big bases. Lots of destinations. Even after gaining seniority the cities never changed much. I went to the same 7-10 places over and over and over again.

Even a DSM base, no commute (which wasn’t a huge deal for me anyhow) your going to tell me the rest of my career which is still 30+ years long, all I’m going to fly to is LAS, IWA, PIE, SFB, VPS (Summer) maybe LAX 2 months out of the year and I guess BNA now? Really? Some people don’t or wouldn’t care. That’s fine. Everyone’s different.

CBI - I really was hopeful for Smartpref and to see what would happen using a legitimate system. It sure as he’ll couldn’t be any worse and, bonus, would actually honor something called Seniority. What a concept! It is absolutely amazing the pure trash that is CBI. Good god.

It was always fun to get Composite and anxiously await to see where you would fall. It was dumb luck whether you would be Number 1 and do absolutely all the work, while the bottom composite holder (who’s also junior to you) is full of ADD days and does maybe 2 RAPs all month.

But by the the BIGGEST load of crap I have see anywhere is - HDMW. This BS right here is absolutely something else.

And this is the problem some guys have. They are like beaten dogs. They accept this kind of BS. I don’t care if your home everynight - Your schedules MATTER!!!!!

When you get denied a day off because “Well sorry, but I swear we aren’t lying, but Everyone has to work today” only to find out, a week later in OT that there are 3 drops Available now.

So your denied a day off that is your wife’s bday, anniversary or important kids event. Now you have to drop it, free of charge, or pay for it yourself by either using your sick bank or calling in sick (if it couldn’t be dropped). It was just incredible.

Finally, the treatment by MG and company. I came from 4 years at a regional. I can count on one hand in that time frame that I dealt with some real BS. One hand. 4 years.

So I come to what is a supposedly a “real airline” and not a contract carrier. The amount of disrespect shown and blatant contract violations is truly pathetic and incredible to witness. I mean holy s... people. Wooooooow.

It would be so much fun to see Allegiant with an Oscar Munoz at the helm. A guy that shifted the focus at United on the employees. Someone who, like Richard Branson, understands the importance of your employee group.

MG is never going to leave. Even if he does, I would be shocked if he doesn’t hand pick someone to carry out his BS. I hope I’m wrong, but I just can’t see it. The BOD is all his friends and other types like him.

With all of that said, while you are “home every night” no one should ever have to deal with this amount of BS and disrespect.

No one should have to use sick calls (literally every month) to get the days off they need.

No one should be spending hours filling out multiple greivances or the most blatant black and white stuff.

No one should wonder what trash CBI is going to produce this month. Outside of the top 1-2 guys, it was a complete and total crap shoot what you would get each month. Zero rhyme or reason.

Home everynight or not. Schedules MATTER.

It pains me to hear of the Bs that just went down with Smartpref. “Whoops. Sorry were bankrupt!”. Your now about to go the entire 5 year contract without a major element that was to be implemented in Jan 2017...

To put this into perspective. I’m a very junior line holder in Dec. I work Xmas and that’s totally fine. I had a lot of Xmas parties to attend, this month, and now I’m going on a 7 day cruise.

When I first got my schedule I couldn’t do most of it. After a few minutes in Open Time I made it all happen. 19 days off and am getting to do the all of the things that I want to do. THAT is QOL and what is important to me. Everyone is different. That’s fine.

If an airline that does multi day trips can make it that easy, there is no excuse for an outfit that does day trips. I think they tried to start doing that with Merlot, when I left, but it was still very cumbersome and inefficient.

I’m thankful for my time at Allegiant. The experience and type helped me land my current job with very little sweat. I loved the vast majority of CAs and crews I flew with. I still see some when I overnight in Vegas.

I don’t miss the other stuff. You can choose to believe it or not, but even with a DSM base while he was here, I would have been trying to leave.

The issues I had problems with, I feel are very important for prospective new hires who are thinking of coming here to be made aware of. I never knew of them before I came.

Yes your home everynight (minus involuntary TDYs), but you are going to deal with some definite BS. And if your in Central FL on reserve... get ready. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Ever.

Bottom line: Some people Allegiant is a great place and they couldn’t be happier. For others it isn’t. That’s okay. Everyone is different.

Regardless is what side your on, there is one thing everyone can agree on. It could be a lot better. Hopefully that day comes.

There's plenty of reason to come to Allegiant from a regional. Question is, is there enough reason to stay. If you have some seniority and are in the top percent of your base, you probably aren't going anywhere. But I suspect the bottom 1/3 of the list will be a revolving door for the foreseeable future. The company probably knows this and accepts it.

He absolutely does. While I am far from miserable here, it pains me to think about how good this place could be with just a little less hatred towards labor. The concept of happy employees = productive employees is very much lost on this management group, and likely always will be. The culture is deeply embedded and unlikely to ever see a major shift.

The two that affect me the most are the High Demand Must Work days that the company uses to basically assign schedules outside of seniority, and the fact that the company is refusing to pay premium pay to reserves.

No. At Allegiant, premium pay of 130% is paid on all credit over 81 hours. The company has interpreted that the really didn’t mean that and don’t want to pay that. So, I have had checks with 105 hours of straight time on reserve. It was arbitrated in 2017 and through legal wrangling by the company, we still don”t have a ruling by the arbitrator.

Nothing specific but just something to think about with respect to the company’s attitude. I consider myself to be a reasonable person. I understand that all contracts have gray areas. Sometimes the interpretation will go in my favor and sometimes it goes in management’s favor. That’s just the way it is.

But when it is written down in black and white English language without being open to any interpretation whatsoever, this airline’s management will find a way to “interpret” in their favor. It is malicious dishonesty in my opinion. As others have mentioned, I too am concerned that this general attitude from up on high may never change.
