Regarding the bonus (just got the email about it this morning): Is this essentially an acknowledgement from the company that a contract isnt anywhere close, and recognition that they are bleeding pilots faster than they can handle? Seems to me if they were serious and recognize the poor state of the contract that, rather than mess around with bonuses, they would just get a good contract in place...quickly.

Im sitting on a CJO and was supposed to start sometime in August. Ive yet to hear back from them to start on-boarding. Their lack of initiative to get new pilots in the door tells me a lot (Southwest has initiated positive communications with me starting about 10 weeks out from proposed start date and already sent all on-boarding actions. They have their own issues, but at least they are showing initiative at getting pilots in and taking care of items early).

Nothing has changed here, it’s still 2024-2025 timeframe.

There is no motivation from the company to do a deal. The company is profitable. Thanks to the willingness of most pilots to help out they are mostly covering the schedule - this is an industry-wide issue - and are not shrinking. There is still the Viva decision to come. They enjoy, even factoring in the retention bonus, low pilot costs. Why rush to the table & agree to sweeping industry-standard work rule changes that erases their flexibility?

2025’s probably a good guess. December 2025….

"Thanks to the willingness of most pilots to help out they are mostly covering the schedule" = pilots not breaking the law

you trying to get us in trouble again?? the Union has had to walk back statements like this in the recent past (October 2020)...

If pilots were to stop "helping out" then management would be able to file a lawsuit for a work slowdown and they'd win.

I don’t understand. Didn’t your CJO have a class date in it? Are you still waiting on a logbook review or your background check?

No and Yes. I was further out than they had dates for at the time. Although the guys at the interview did a logbook review and said I would be good there. I just got an email about doing one though...oh well on that one. They are wanting me in a 31 Jul class (email just came in today).

Many times we expect that airlines know what they are doing but in reality they are just winging it and have no real defined procedures on keeping track of things.

Ha, I'd say the same with the military 😅

If you have SW CJO I would take that for sure. We have had 15 year guys leave to go there.
