Contract negotiations
#2232
Jimmy8 and Captainbfv seem to demonstrate that more reasonable voices are finally emerging within our pilot group. Let's hope this makes its way to our negotiation team.
Unfortunately, the "Industry Standard" mindset has taken hold among our union and a significant portion of our pilot group. This mentality often makes them overlook the fact that several aspects of our current conditions (some of which Captainbfv mentioned) are actually better than the so-called "Industry Standard." Let's preserve those and compromise on other items.!
I mostly agree with your comments on "what we want," but it's important to also consider what we can realistically achieve, which will likely fall short of the ideal. And that should be just fine for most of us : )

The reason why many don't publicly say what they really think, or anything near to what you and I might say, it's bc they are afraid of being jumped on, or attacked for "rolling" over, or even not falling in line with "unity". My hope is that IF needed, at some point, people speak up.

Margaritaville, it appears, posits the rather curious notion that the formation of coherent and complete sentences must invariably indicate that the individual in question is not a pilot, but rather belongs to the ranks of management, a lawyer or a bot.
One must fervently hope that the esteemed members of our pilot group possess a more elevated level of self-regard than what this assertion would imply.

says a dude who is trolling about a company he doesn’t even work for. Why don’t you hangout on your own forums if the company is so great?

Completely not suprised that after 4 years we are at the same hang up spot we have always ended up with at this company. They will give us close to industry pay and retirement but they get best in industy work rules and scheduling. Which means they get full control of it all.

For those of you who are very new to the airline world, you should read up on what happened to your fellow Teamster pilots at Atlas Air during their last negotiations (which by the way, their “experts” are the same two “experts” GU hired to get ours done). It is extremely likely that right now, GU is crying in DC, begging to not be placed on ice by the NMB. If you think it’s going to be contract 2024– you’re wrong. If you think it’s going to be contract 2025– you’re wrong. If you think it’s going to be contract 2026– we might be getting dates at the table by then. Our next CBA will most likely be handed to us via binding arbitration.
A few points:
-Viva will likely be approved under the DJT admin during Q1 2025. Expect to see heavy Allegiant growth using their pilots on viva routes (remember, cabotage prevents DSM-PIE but not PIE-CUN). Our current CBA kills us on this.
-DJT NMB will not be releasing any airline work group. There is a heavy focus on corporate improvement, it will not benefit Allegiant to see pilots strike.
-The strike vote publicity will not help. Allegiant has already shown their argument is to tell the public that they offered 50-70% hourly compensation raises in addition to other improvements. The public already thinks we’re rich, they won’t have any pity for us.
-If you’re young and single, jump to the first major that will take you.
-If Allegiant is where you’re staying, buckle up. It’s going to be a ride.

binding arbitration has to be agreed to by both sides, it can’t be forced to my understanding
Trump is a wildcard.. anything could happen no
Company says their side we say ours.. that’s how it works. People think we’re already on strike and will be hesitant to buy tickets. What the SPC is doing is working.
agree with you about the jumping ship thing and it most definitely will be a ride!
