this should be the nail in the coffin for the IBT

also hearing that it is DC for retirement.

We would get destroyed at SLI with rates 25% less, retirement is approx a third less. Don’t even get started on work rules, if the arbitrator looks at those we are truly screwed.

you are a fool if you think an arbitrator is gonna credit for our career expectations above SY pilots because we win the “base preferences” contest. Arbitrators go out of their way to stick to objective measures in SLI arbitrations. Rates are the absolute most objective measure because the fleets are the same.

Not saying it’s the only thing they look at but they absolutely look at it. To say that they do “not look at differences in same category pay rates” is blatantly a lie.
You are genuinely scared aren't you. Right now we are going to vote yes or no on this agreement. None of what you mention has any bearing on what is before us right now. I won't blink an eye if it fails.

If it was a 5 year deal on the table, it might be worth it to vote no and try for more. But not here. Too risky to vote no. You have a quick 2 year deal and then jcba next.

I would have rather seen a 5 year deal that is amendable in 2 years. Or a 2 year deal with an annual % increase until the JCBA is ratified, which could take 5-10 years from today.

The rates are insulting especially coming from the most profitable airline on a margin basis that just had record earnings. This would be a pay cut for a lot that are used to getting premium pay if you include the bonus. Those that have been able to bid specific days off and plan life are going to be shocked when the PBS details come out soon.

of course I’m genuinely concerned/nervous/scared about losing seniority.

if your seniority isn’t important then teamster tom will make sure that the IBT protects us against ALPA in the SLI arbitration.

you do realize ALPA isn’t gonna hold back or take it easy on us, SLI arbitration will be a very contentious to say the least.

Nothing we can do about that right now, one step at a time.

Rumor was we were supposed to get another email or 2 yesterday explaining more of the AIP. Anyone know when we will hear more? Would be nice to have more info before we start making our minds up about a yes or no vote.

I can’t imagine there is much more to tell us. What we have seen is about what we are going to get. I cannot imagine there are nuggets that are going to change my mind. But yes I will look at the final details before making my final decision.

that’s where you are wrong. What we can do about it right now is strengthen our existing contract and strengthen our hand when SLI fight begins.
