The company sees a crack and tired pilot group, but in reality, nothing has really changed here. I've been on record the whole time as 2025. There are complex sections that will take time to work out and day 1 of the hard stuff began on Monday.

I agree the company sees us as fractured and cracked (hint: it’s because we are - we all hear the decert rumors running rampant).

Teamsters are trying their best to hold us together and not lose another pilot group to Alpa or internal Union.

But that doesn’t explain why the company would want to get a deal done? There is no attrition, the industry and market has tanked, spirit is furloughing, legacies have stopped hiring, why use a deal when they can keep us on the cheap for another 12-24 months at least?

That’s why I don’t understand the chatter I’m hearing and don’t know what to believe…

Well we will never really know but I think the company needs to get a grip on what their future fixed costs are going to be. Also, right now, the money set aside for pilot retention is spanning greater then a year on the books. Right now it probably is somewhere in the neighborhood of 15% of the companies cash on hand. (although I have no clue on how that is booked).

Because to grow they need to attract people with the background that makes them Captain material now - 23-year-old CFI's with 50 hours in a Seminole are likely years away from being upgradable. And no shame intended. When I was at that point in my career there's no way I had any business in the left seat of an airliner.
