Is it really true normal upgrade is 12-24months? (Normal=non-TDY)

What equipment and base is most junior for captains? What base is junior for New hires?

What equipment and what bases end up getting TDYs often each month? Seems like TDY is commutable.

You really get a revenue airline ticket to get to your TDY base? Does it have to be on AAY or can you really live anywhere that has a hub and fly in on any airline? Thanks y'all. I've got an interview coming up.

Wake up folks!!! There is about to be some serious happenings here -- i.e. STRIKE!

I have already flown with the same type of guys who came here knowing what was going on and yet believed they would avoid any periods of workplace strife. "Hey Im home every night! Hey this is better than XYZ regional!"

These same guys are now complaining about a potential strike looming because they "can't afford to lose pay during a strike".

Well, cry me a river. You didn't listen to what everyone on here was warning you about and now you need to suck it up and prepare for war like the rest of us who have been here for many years.

Just say no to your interview and wait till it all blows over if you can't financially hold the line with us.

That's just it though! Good things come from taking risk. Come to AAY. Strike occurs. I back the pilots. In a short few days AAY gets a new contract. Go back to work. Now bunch of people start wanting to come to AAY cus the battle is done and have a good contract. But meanwhile the mad rush of interested pilots will now become junior to me cus I took a leap of faith and took the risk. Am I delusional?

I think this kind of thinking can pay off BIG, but you can also lose BIG. Do a risk vs. reward analysis. If you can accept the downside at it's worse, i.e. if all the wheels come off can you still look yourself in the mirror and say "I'm still glad I tried" ? If so then you really can't lose. But also consider is the degree of 'best case' equal to or higher than the inverse degree of 'worse case'? If it's not, then it's a bad gamble pure and simple.

History favors risk takers - just be smart. I wish I'd learned this earlier in life.

And so it starts. This is exactly why you Internet warriors shouldn't be surprised when the NC comes back with substantially less than you "won't settle for" and 80% of your pilot group votes for it.

People have an annoying habit of talking big then rolling over and playing dead rather than actually striking. I'd even bet some of the APC Fire breathers will vote for less rather than walk.

Funny thing though. When it's all said and done you won't be able to find anyone who admits to voting for it. Pilots, as a group, are notoriously non-confrontational.

Oh good another uplifting post from our supporter Packrat.

I'm in contact with a variety of pilots in a variety of bases. Tough talk needs to be backed up with action. Sure a minority will waffle, but they remain a minority.

Allegiant is a get rich quick scheme for investors. It's not designed nor was it ever intended to be around in any long term sense. That's one of the reasons why critical infrastructure there is constantly in a state of disrepair and underfunded, to say the least.

I did 4 years at G4 before pulling the trigger and leaving for Southwest. It was a no brainer. Despite that, I had a great time at G4. 2 years on the Md80 and 2 years on the 757 working with a great group of pilots and flight attendants. It was an experience I'd trade for nothing.

I hope the pilot group can strike ASAP and hopefully get some semblance of a pilot contract on property. Even if successful in this endeavor though, there will still remain in place the same systemic issues that have plagued G4 all along. That's why, in my opinion, if your goal is long term stable employment, it's best to hedge your bets and take full advantage of the hiring opportunities elsewhere.

Agreed Duke. I weighed the same options before I pulled the trigger and left for a way better place. I could have waited for a new contract which might be 10X better but you will still be dealing with a failing infrastructure, MX issues, morally disgusting and hostile middle and upper management.

Every single part of the "New contract" that the AAY guys get from a stike will still have to be fought inch by inch through grievances and threats from middle management.....

"You got a good gig man, you got a good gig"
"These are good problems to have" Says the one who has that golden parachute........
