All this redeye flying is a big reason why I'm still on the 190. Id guess you'd need to be 50% or better in most bid statuses to completely avoid them.

Not entirely true. A good friend of mine turned DAL down in the mid 90's for an overseas corporate job. Two years later, he had a change of heart , reapplied and was hired. He is now a Captain at DAL. Granted, he was probably the exception. |

One thing not to forget is the value of the pension. You would have to make an extra $2 million or so at AA over the course of a career to match the value of a $120k/Year pension at UPS. UPS and FedEx are way ahead of all the airlines if you are looking at it from just the compensation angle.
More to it than that. I'm not sure what the deal is at UPS, but everyone I've known who's gone there absolutely hates the place after a few years. I've never heard of happy campers there. |

Yep. I need lots of food, water and sleep. Take away one of those and I'm miserable. I'll fly redeyes for group 2 captain pay. But not for FO pay. 4 legs a day on the e9 is fine with me. |
