I have a hunch they are front loading hiring for a stop next summer/fall. 400 guys are coming off the S80 within a two week period (no draw down) plus some coming off the 767. They all need training so that is almost six months worth of new hire training slots.

I would anticipate a couple of months slow down for the pilots coming off the Mad Dogs. Got to get trained (and as you said, some 767 as well).

Keep in mind they are on track for 900 (maybe a few more) new hires for this year. That was their forecast at the begnning of the year. I got a lot of grief when I stuck to my guns on this. When they slowed hiring in Feb, I was told, “See, the sky is falling.” The same thing in the 2 months of slow down in the summer.

It has been announced that next year’s hiring will be 1,000. And when they slow down for a couple of months to handle the Mad Dogs, it will be announced by some here, “See, the sky is falling.” Then, by the end of 2019 they will be on track for the 1,000 new hires.

Where can the announcement for 1,000 next year be found? I've seen nothing about it.

It was announced at the veterans event that they still need to hire 100 more off the street this year.

Low man in PHX is less then 500 numbers from the bottom. I’ve heard rumors of 1000+ new hires for 2019. This does not prove anything going forward, just a snap shot right now. PHX is the most senior A320/CA base and one of the more junior A320/FO bases. Best guess I have would be right after your 6-mo seat lock to 12 months (2 bid cycles after seat lock). Getting A320 anywhere in Indoc would help to avoid a withholding of upto 12 mo after be “awarded” PHX.

PHX junior? News to me. Not really junior at all. LAX is junior.
