No, according to the table, the largest was 1206 by Delta in 2016. The highest AA hired was in 2000, 1171.
Indeed, in these two decades of records, there have only been a handful of times an airline hired 1000 in a year. No one has done it sustained, year after year.

That's still pretty darn impressive.
It will be fun to watch when the Big 3 all have to do the same, every year, for almost a decade.

it looks like Delta is opting to hire as young as possible. Newest class ranged from 24 youngest, 42 oldest. Avg was 34. Probably wanting to get as many early mid 20s as possible to avoid more training for retirements. I think 27 was our youngest. She was a rockstar at pdt and hired outside the flow. definitely gonna be good for everyone who became a regional capt at 26 or younger.
