If you have family do MIA. NYC traffic, weather, places will be a pain. 3 airports is a negative, but all a doable drive from Naples. Good luck.

How much longer is a line in MIA than NYC?

Default Reserve at AA

Thanks for the info.

Interesting, hadn’t heard of this before. What airline is this? And do you get over your original line guarantee just for sitting an extra day of reserve on a day off? Sounds incredibly lucrative. Or only get the extra pay if you get called? If the latter, why wouldn’t you just pick up the open trips instead? Just curious how this works, maybe something to look into as we negotiate our contract. But yeah as the other poster said, at AA you can’t currently mix reserve and line concepts.

Haven't heard of that either. Maybe he is getting it confused with being able to pick up trips in open time or the trade boards on your days off while on reserve which is allowed at most regionals. But being able to add reserve days willy nilly? That is usually not a thing unless they are offering it during IROPs.

Current carrier allows Reserve pick ups. Get paid the higher of min day or actual at the premium rate (generally 200% when they are offering RSV pick up).

So they have to offer it?

no, crew scheduling has the discretion to offer it or not, but anyone can pick it up as long as it’s FAR legal.

My carrier does this also. Lineholder can pick up reserve days from open time for premium if the company has them available. Can also pick up reserve days from other pilots trying to drop them, but no premium. Get paid greater of min or flown. Can be lucrative for picking up a single reserve day that has small chance of being used, and also pretty beneficial to reserve folks trying to get rid of a day for schedule improvement or to limit their own usability. I think southwest is also able to do trading of trips and reserve between lineholders and reserve pilots, but not sure if line holders there can do straight pickups of reserve.

Its like picking up a premium trip here, except it’s a reserve day rather than a trip

Okay, so just like I said. It has to be offered or you are picking it up from someone else.
