For FO or Capt.?

A320 FO
DFW - A while
MIA - A little while
CLT - A longer while
DCA - A while
PHL - A while
PHX - forgettabouit
LAX - Pretty quick
LGA - Day uno, amigo! Welcome to the jungle.

New A320 Capt.
MIA - unlikely
DFW - more unlikely
PHL - Unless you're a E190 Cappy
CLT - No way
DCA - Nope
LAX - slight chance (most jr. A320 cappy is 14 years.... guess who )
PHX - You're kidding right? The most senior Airbus Capt. base.. 20 years!
LGA - Yup, buddy! Welcome to the jungle.

PHX FO 320 low man is 145XX. PHX is very junior on the FO and very senior on the CA side.

I think a good stat would be the average seniority of each base. (Which I would do if I had more time.) But my point is that yes, PHX has some really junior guys, but most are relatively senior. So even if you get PHX quickly as a new hire, your schedule is going to suck for quite a while. LGA and to a lesser extent LAX have much better movement.

With that, how long to hold line in LGA?

First month off OE, guys in my class had a line in LAX.

I had one in the third month, and was 79% overall (with most of those behind me still in training).

This year, new hire classes are sending ~ 8-12 to LAX/320. Now understand, a great many bid off ASAP to other junior bases, so the upward pressure on your seniority from below isn't sustainable until seniors bid off.

WRT commuting from DFW, I've found it to be very manageable. We have 12 or so online nonstop both ways, with a handful of OAL in there too. All of ours but two are Airbus or 787 (w/ 2x JS). Edit: this last comment was geared toward a question on a different thread.

LGA/PHX/LAX 320 have all gone to new hires in class this year.

DC/MIA 320 have gone pretty junior lately. A few months seniority.

Everything else expect pretty much 6mo - 2 yrs or more, moving target and hard to say really. CLT/DFW/PHL are the most senior of the 320 domiciles to hold.

737 is typically more junior and quicker to hold in nearly every base where they co-exist with the Airbus. It's always changing and hard to say with any certainty what a new hire can expect, just don't expect DFW or CLT offered to a new hire class. That is pretty much a certainty to not happen any time soon now that the S80 training has ceased.

Basically if you want LGA, PHL, LAX or MIA you are pretty lucky because you can get any of those right away or within months typically (maybe not on Airbus but on something). PHX hasn't been offered again for months I don't think but was offered earlier this year a few times to new hires.

737/DCA is also fairly junior right now. New hires have been getting there within 6-9 months of starting indoc.

Most FOs in PHX can hold group 2 CA or group 4 FO. You'll gain seniority faster in LAX but line holder tends to go very junior in PHX and the junior trips are usually commutable. I was 80% in PHX but had a much better schedule than 60% in LAX.

I am considering AA and live in PHX. How soon can a new hire transfer to PHX if not received during the initial drop? What lifestyle can I expect as an FO? With the current movement how long would it take to upgrade to Captain? What is the reserve schedule like? AA only operates the 757/767 and A320 out of PHX correct?
