Will cjo’s be extended beyond the one year?

Perhaps asking the hiring department directly would give you the most accurate answer. Honestly, no idea, but one can only hope so under these highly unusual circumstances.😉

Even if you get a hand written note from Doug Parker that says yes today, it could change tomorrow.

all bets are off; plan accordingly

Let’s worry about having an airline in a year first. I’d say any CJO right now isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

While these guys have a point, it's not all doom and gloom. I can only go by what the hiring department's past actions have been. AA might have its warts, but the hiring department is top notch, and these people (and the company) have been about as honorable and respectful as possible to those with CJO's. Whereas United rescinded class dates 3 days prior to classing up, AA said to its upcoming class "we might not have a class date for you, but we will bring you on property, get you a seniority number, and make sure you and your family have healthcare and other benefits." These actions would indicate to me that although no one knows what the future holds, they will be as considerate to those with CJO's as they have been with everyone else.

All well and good except for the fact that they will have nothing to do with what happens from here on out

I’m not talking about the hiring department. They are excellent. They have nothing to do with the survival of the airline.

I have no doubt they will look after those with CJO’s. I think the OP will be fine and have a great career here.

If this lasts through the summer I seriously doubt they will keep the cjo pools. 2001-2009 airline pools were flushed all the time.

Pulling people on property and giving them sen numbers was weeks ago but it might as well have been decades, many thought this would be over by now. Currently the airline is staring down the barrel of furloughs and shrinking. Wouldn't be surprised if AA didn't hire for another 2-3 years after this, even with retirements. 7000-8000 pilot airline, that would staff 700 mainline jets.

Spot on. Hope for the best but plan for the worst. AA will be struggling for survival for the foreseeable future. Even someone who is on furlough can't count on coming back and that may be thousands. Hate to sound depressing but that is the reality of our industry today.
