Year 2 pay starts a year from the day you are scheduled to finish initial training. I think it’s called your classification date. I’m assuming they’ll come back to the pay year they would have been at if they stayed. That’s how USERRA works. My question is, if you’re already out on a few years of mil leave, and they furlough your line number, do you still get furloughed or do they just leave you on your leave status? I’m assuming you don’t gain years while in a furlough status, but you certainly do on mil leave.
Personally, I don't think we will furlough but it is too early to make any prediction.

Demand isn't going to jump back. 1 in 6 Americans are unemployed. A lot of people don't have money after our government ordered staycation. Especially in the markets AA operates in (LA, Phoenix, Miami, New York) that are tourism dominated.

A New York Times article finds that "a new survey found that most Americans are ready to hit the road (or skies) as soon as it's safe. The survey says 46 percent of Americans are ready to travel as soon as the lockdowns are lifted, the New York Post reports. The results were based on a nationwide survey of more than 30,000 Americans by polling firm PiplSay."

Have you been by Home Depot or Lowes lately?
Doesn’t seem like people really want to stay home.
To my knowledge the 330s are not yet gone. The word is some of the older ones are going to be parked. Maybe they are going to transfer the 330 to MIA like I heard a few years ago. Guess we will know more when the next base bid comes out.
The 76s were done at the end of the summer and the 75s were going to be done sometime the middle of next year. The 190s were supposed to be gone 4 yrs ago.
The 190 and 75/76 were about 950 positions total.
We just had 617 guys go out on early retirement and still have another 374 known retirements to go this year.
That is 991 gone by the end of the year.
Plus we still have another 562 known retirements for next year.
Not to mention we were already understaffed. I have heard the number 1200-1300 thrown around.
Demand will come back. The question is how long will it take.
I think by next summer we will be back at 85% of what was projected for this year.

Some business (I suspect a higher number than we'd like to believe) are going to go under simply because with already thin profit margins before this pandemic, they simply won't be able to stay afloat when things open up, as consuner spending just won't ramp up to a level quick enough for them to maintain solvency.
So if they do recall their employees, they just might have to let them go again when they meet this reality - a Secondary Stall if you will.
Recession is inevitable, if we are not already in it, and we will not be able to escape its effects... Without getting into a debate about whether or not we should've, you don't just shut down the world's largest economy for a few months and think it'll start up back again without some serious collateral damages.
I hope I'm wrong, but I think this is gonna hurt like a modder***!

Fwiw the 330-300s were supposed to retire this year then it was pushed back 2 years. The planes are old coming up on timing out anyways.

The 330-300s are probably done. 777-200 is slated to go muc and lhr from CLT. There's still like 20 or so 330-200s most of which are pretty new. Once again more drama for the sake of drama.

We have 15 330-200s, they are owned, not leased, not sure if there is a market to sell them right now. The new airline has no use for a fleet that small I’m guessing. Their flying was so seasonal anyways, getting rid of them this winter won’t even be felt. Will be interesting to see what happens next summer. 4 type ratings for an airline this size is pretty efficient. I’m sure it also makes furloughing easier, but let’s be in denial for a little while longer.
