wouldn’t say something is here when there is currently none of said something. In the future, yes. But not seeing that as being “here”.

Weird to say this, when in fact not a single furlough letter has been sent at this company.

Love these “get your house in order” posts. I was just about to pull the trigger on a new house/boat/Miata/spouse/plane, and had no idea a furlough was coming. Thankfully, I stumbled upon some random person’s post, which was the exact catalyst I needed to suddenly take this seriously.

Mass furlough letters and their timing can affect stock prices and credit ratings (possibly good or bad).

No company will send letters sooner than the minimum legal/contractual timeline, unless they have an ulterior motive for that.

The WARN requirement is for a 90 day notice to the best of my knowledge, so thats puts the earliest furlough possibility at like Oct 15th if they are received this week. And to the people that said we(AA pilots) said we wouldnt have to furlough bc of VPLOAs, that is just ridiculous, all anybody with a brain said was that they would help mitigate the number down. My best guess is 2,000 are sent out because why would they undercut the number?? its going to suck when they go out and i am kind of pist bc i would have taking a LOA in Aug but none were offered for my category!!!

That’s exactly what I would have said, but you win because I slept in today. When did the Miata become the official car of APC, anyway?

Oh. No. You. Didn't.

You put Miata in the same sentence with boat, spouse and plane.

May Rickair have Mercy on your poor soul!

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN)protects workers, their families, and communities by requiring employers with 100 or more employees (generally not counting those who have worked less than six months in the last 12 months and those who work an average of less than 20 hours a week) to provide at least 60 calendar days advance written notice of a plant closing and mass layoff affecting 50 or more employees at a single site of employment. WARN makes certain exceptions to the requirements when layoffs occur due to unforeseeable business circumstances, faltering companies, and natural disasters. Advance notice gives workers and their families some transition time to adjust to the prospective loss of employment, to seek and obtain other jobs, and if necessary, to enter skill training or retraining that will allow these workers to compete successfully in the job market. Regular federal, state, local, and federally-recognized Indian Tribal government entities that provide public services are not covered.
