United posted a message on their pilot scheduling website yesterday that said they were increasing the number of furloughs by 1250 for a total of 3900.
Saw that and our warn notices where an extra 900 over our overstaff. 1300 with retirements so anything is possible which is what I think 1300 is the minimum but what do I know it is just a guess from a line pilot. |

Also to get back on track my furlough estimate is something less than 1600. In other words, some mitigation but perhaps not 100%.

*Edit. Sorry, guys. On second thought I don't want to post hard numbers publicly until it's 100% official.
Did I miss a post where you have furlough numbers? |

I heard from a couple of seperate sources what the furlough numbers were supposed to be before the BOD and NC began meeting with management. So any mitigation would be below that number...but yeah, things change by the second around here and I'd rather not post stuff publicly. Especially until it's official.
Ok got it. Let me ask it this way we’re they horrific or more expected? I don’t need specifics. |

It’s just annoying to hear over and over how incredible Europe is by those that just repeat talking points and have never spent any meaningful time there.
Maybe this does not apply to a pilot group that in average makes $200k/year and has greater flexibility on how to live their life but it certainly applies to the average over there person. The avg European citizen is far more educated on world issues as a whole and has the ability to see the bigger picture. Europe was able to flatten the curve, we weren’t, plain and simple. That displays a far more developed and educated culture that chose to listen to science and medicine over some crazy conspiracy theory that also politicized it as a hoax. There is a reason why the US is literally the only “developed” country on the Top 5 of most covid infected countries and it has everything to do with how we as a nation decided to respond to the crisis. |

The 10x was a hyperbole, sarcasm at best. I still stand by the fact that western Europe, the EU is more developed than the US simply in terms of the basics, such as healthcare, public education, transportation infrastructure, quality of life, minimum wage and overall happiness levels of the average middle class.
