ALV reduction is most definitely not a concession. That's like saying taking 55 hours and not working at all is a concession. It's all about how it's worded, and spreading false info about something that could "save your bacon" is some next level self destructive behavior.

its not a concession on reserve if they also lower the number of reserve days per pilot. Yes working the same amount for less pay is a concession, but working less isn’t.

For everyone who can't hold a line, a reduction in reserve guarantee of 10-15 hours a month would be a pretty substantial, involuntary reduction in pay. I'm just throwing those numbers out there, but I keep hearing 10-15 hours when people are throwing out ideas.

Nope, not Delta. I don't think anyone would be against a reduction in ALV, when there is plenty of flying to go around, for the people who like to fly high time. But with the bottom of the LCW at ALV -7, and the possibility of limited, or no open time, it's going to be a hard sell under current conditions.

I’d say don’t lower reserve as much. Lower it maybe 5 hours and get a day or 2 extra off. Lower the line values to about 70 average. My lines all summer have been around 85 hours. They shouldn’t be that high if we are going to furlough.

cant reserve pilots pick up an extra trip if they are only getting paid min guarantee?

or, if they keep the standard ALV, how many of them are going to put the difference in the APA pilot support fund to help the pilots who are collecting unemployment?

"never cross a picket line" is a golden rule. but it really works well when you support everyone in the union with more than words of empathy.

How about no "concessions" by no reduction of ALV, but the union increases dues by 15% of a paycheck (totalling 17%) with all of the extra collection to support furloughed pilots? Then the company is still paying the same amount, line pilots are still making what they would if concessions were made (but are still holding the company's "feet to the fire"), and furloughed pilots are supported as if they had the same concessionary wages. Holding a line on the company and supporting the fraternal cause.

as each pilot comes off furlough, union dues are reduced senior to junior on the list. Just a crazy idea.

I have an even BETTER idea: How about the union increasing the dues 98% (totaling 100%) and just giving you what they think you deserve, and giving the rest to furloughed pilots at Delta (or maybe SW or better yet JB or AK)? There’s democracy in action.

Reserves cannot pick up trips.

A change in ALV would have no effect on reserve guarantee unless the union separately negotiates it in.

An involuntary reduction to zero hours is more substantial. Considering a majority of RSVs at AA are in the bottom 2500 of the company, I’m willing to bet they’d take 60-65/hrs a month vs. unemployment.

It would take some negotiating and structured agreements, but we have the framework to keep everyone on property. People can work less for less money, or work more for more money. The company will want a hard number of reduced lines/money saved, so if enough senior pilots don’t elect to fly a reduced line, it could be assigned in reverse seniority order.

This company was so appealing pre-Covid because of the retirement numbers. That should also work to our advantage now. If DAL and UAL can stave off furloughs and we cannot, that is absolutely pathetic.
