Who is FetaCheese to call out the old guys he can’t wait to get rid of. FetaCheese doesnt know their situation. I was pretty much calling him out so yeah. I agree with you. My point was it’s easy to sit around and point fingers and concessions do not prevent furloughs.
Okay, point taken. I think all need to take a step back and stop blaming each other. DFW put out an update the other day and it sounds like the company and new NC are talking. I'm hoping they can come up with some innovative mitigation. |

Yup, Feta absolutely made an overly broad, incendiary comment here in this very thread two days ago, so I get rdneckpilot's pushback - and rdneckpilot even prefaces his comments by stating he's about 15 pilots from the bottom of his seniority list, so absolutely the very first to go.
To quote Feta:

...But no. They'd rather drink their beers, trim their walrus moustaches while chuckling about us "paying our dues". I can't wait for our generation of pilots to replace them.

For the second and I guess last time. I think feta was being unreasonable in his statements about other pilots so I gave a little back to him in an effort to point out how unproductive and pointless it is. So yeah. I agree with you. I’m not apologizing to him for anything I said. Anyone that will get on here and say the hateful things he said in the post I quoted doesn’t get an apology.
I don’t think his wife is dead if she can get a job now as he referenced in his post. But that’s not the point anyway. It’s just straw man BS.

I have thought the same about many of your posts but I couldn’t help it this time man. I hope we all get through this but dude there is nothing good going to come from you hating other pilots and looking forward to the day they are gone from your seniority list. That’s way too negative of a mindset. Not to mention it’s just hateful. No matter how bitter and harsh those guys are being they have experiences us younger guys can learn from if you are willing to listen.
Maybe we can just stop with the overly broad generalizations here and the propensity to throw whole groups of people under the bus |

We work in a seniority system. Some will eat more of that sandwich than others. I’m at the very bottom of my list. I think at my age and relative seniority it may mean I will never come back to 121 ops. I chose my career and how I’ve structured my life. If I don’t like how it’s worked out all I need to do is look in the mirror and complain. I have friends scattered all over this industry and I’m former PSA. I split ahead of flow for a LCC. Those were my choices. No one else’s. I don’t expect the senior guys here to save my bacon. I expect them do do their level best to protect that contract so if I can come back I have a career with having. Just my opinion. It’s worth what it cost you. |
I see a lot of guys/gals facing this stressful time with not a lot of optimism. I’ve been at 5 airlines and I’ve had some very stressful times. At 42 I moved into my parents basement with my wife and 2 young kids!
having survived the dot com bust, 9-11, SARS, GFC, and more, I’ve seen my different airlines suffer financial disasters that impacted my life in a financially negative way (but also with some positives). I think it’s the uncertainty that was most difficult to deal with. We are trained to approach a problem and “fix” it with a solution designed by engineers. These times are uncertain and it’s the complete unknown that induces such incredible stress. There is no “fix.” I share this because as an older and wiser person I realize how I could have made things a little less stressful in those unknown times. Checking APC every 5 min for news or looking on company web boards won’t do anything for your sanity. The reality is we have very little control in life. This time will pass and things will improve. I was flying at age 26 as a 767 copilot and I thought I had made it! Little did I expect that I’d still be a 767 copilot at 50 (with several airlines in between). Things have worked out okay and although it’s been a long road, I wouldn’t trade my history for a different one. The slower times had some benefits that I never anticipated. In the end, time passes, things pick up, and there is progression and you’re bidding with better seniority. get off APC and walk the dog, go for a hike, or call a friend. I needed something a little more upbeat to read and so I’m reading “Lessons From Lucy,” by Dave Barry. It’s a fun read. hang in there! |

reducing line values aren’t a concession. If the line values are reduced 15% then people get 15% more time off. I’m pretty sure APA was trying to get that in contract negotiations before Covid anyway. People that want to fly more can pick up time, but not everyone wants to fly 90 hours a month.

I'd say it's all about the language thats negotiated. Line holder guarantee is currently ALV -7, so a straight ALV reduction would lower the minimum guarantee a like amount. Counting on the availability of open time isn't a sure thing either. And if they lower the reserve guarantee's, that is most defiantly a concession for everyone thats stuck on reserve for what could end up being several more years.
I didn’t think the Contract had reserve guarantee as a percentage or formula of ALV like Deltas? It’s a hard number I thought? I’ll look it up later after watching Yellowstone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Also let’s remember that a lower ALV was something the NC was targeting in S6. It’s a QoL enhancer as well as a job creater. |

its not a concession on reserve if they also lower the number of reserve days per pilot. Yes working the same amount for less pay is a concession, but working less isn’t. |

I think the only person against lowering ALV is Texaspilot. I’d love to have 65-75 hrs a month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
