Potentially every month with the union’s mutual base exchange, which become effective 2 months after. Someone leaving swaps with someone coming. Vacancies are roughly every 3 months, but are 3-6 months to effective date. No limit on same equipment base swaps.

Say I’m awarded a320d but I want to transfer to a base with a320i, can I be withheld for a year?

This may be a dumb question, but is it possible to swap a base and equipment award with someone in a class junior to you? Or can you only swap via the mutual base exchange (which I know must be identical equipment)?

I believe someone in my class traded LGA and BOS after the bids were complete but before they left the room with the paperwork, so it was accepted. If any trades happen it would have to be immediately after bidding was complete so the question is if you want something that somebody Jr got, then why didn't you bid it?

Yeah, it was a couple of the last few people who traded. All that were left were a few LGA and BOS slots. One guy didn't care which one he got. The one Jr to him really wanted the base that he picked but he picked the last spot. Once the person found out about that he gladly switched with the guy beneath him because it really didn't matter to him which one he got. But you are right any last second changes has to take class seniority into account.

You would not be withheld. You would bid it during a vacancy and if awarded it, you'd simply go to international class for 2 days, then fly an intl leg with a CKA and you're good.
