Basic questions about QOL at AA

Unless you call sick for every trip, I'd say the chance of not flying on SC for the full month in DFW on a narrow body is pretty much zero. Since every other base flys through DFW, we cover broken trips from other baes all the time. I cant speak for the fo's, but as a ca on short call, it's very rare for me to have more than two, or three days a month I don't fly. I've timed out more than a few times, and usual SC month is around 70 hours.
I believe the other narrow body bases are probably about the same, but we average 30% reserve coverage, both ca's and fo's.
On the line holder side, for December in DFW (737) 41% of our pairings were 4 day trips, and just over 5% were 5 day's.
I didn't look at January yet, but my fo says it looks about the same.

Line holder or reserve?….It varies a lot between 4 part bid status(ie. DFW/737/FO/I) a lot…people can probably only accurately tell you about their bid status, min is CLT 320 FO, and with a little work and knowledge of our scheduling tools, TTS, TTOT, liteSabre, pbs, etc…as a line holder you can get that down to close to zero, of course that comes with zero pay too. As a RSV with weekends off you will work WAY WAY less here in CLT. I would say that in addition to your 12 or 13 off days you can reasonably expect 4 or 5 more days they don’t use you(this changes month to month a lot lately).

well, it’s true, and I proffered for trips. It’s because they were giving out premium like crazy and people probably didn’t want to call in sick. I had Covid and got a PW status and a 30ish hour GTD, then didn’t turn a wheel. Didn’t even make it to the 1st guy on the hook ever. I worked almost the entire holiday week too.

Thanks!
How long does it take to hold 787? My friend is obsessed with that airplane and has a dream of flying at one day. Just trying to get an idea how long it would take to hold it.
Also, he is currently at a ULCC with almost 5 years of seniority. Curious about the vacation process accrual to see how long it would take to get break even.
