Seniority by Base

APA still has to sign off on it. What makes you think APA will do so without significant changes after the summer? If APA were to allow it in its disastrous current form, why would they have forced the company to delay its implementation?

I don't think APA forced anything. I think if the company really wanted to they would have implemented it and told APA to grieve it like they do with everything else that they want.
I think the company finally realized (this was probably helped by the uproar that APA stoked) that implementing it would be asking for a summer meltdown.

How junior is ORD looking for 737 and 320? It doesn't appear to be going to new hires, so any good recommendations for bases to bid for as commuter out of O'Hare? I'm not really familiar with any of the junior bases besides NYC and understand their delays they can get.

ORD is popping into the new hire base drops, just not every week. Kind of the luck of the draw if it shows up in your new hire class. Otherwise you can MBE or get ORD in the next vacancy bid so expect to only be a commuter for a few months if that. Sorry, no A320 base in ORD. Only 737 and 787.

Boston is also a real cool city with lots of history and free things to do. It is a more senior base so your seniority won't grow as much as it would in New York.
When I came back from furlough, I was New York based and hated it.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. Good luck and welcome aboard!

I live in Chicago and was initially based in BOS. I loved it there. It's only 1 airport to cover vs the 3 Airport BS in New York. Most guys are local so the jumpseat was almost always available. With everyone local, reseve goes more on the senior side with a line possible right away. I just checked for June and the most junior guy got short call, next guy long call, next one short call, 4th junior guy had a line. I sat long call from ORD before. I haven't looked to see how flights have changed to see if it's still doable.

Also, what is the idea of bidding for International vs Domestic when it comes to bidding for aircraft, particularly as a new hire? I suppose what's the difference in terms of training or bidding for a schedule if you get the 737/I or 737/D.

Awesome. Yeah Boston was really cool. I was senior enough at my regional to get a few 30 hour Boston overnights and really get out and explore the city. I figure my generic game plan (until something comes around and screws it up) is to find a good commuter base, transfer to ORD and ride it out for a few years. My S/O and I are actually looking to potentially move to NYC area within a few years so hopefully by the time that happens my seniority will be decent enough to start preferring trips out of a particular airport to where we live at.

I’m guessing your seniority will be good enough to choose start locations at NYC within a few months let alone years (usual caveats).

Aircraft Bases
Hey All! I just go the email to interview with AA. I've been trying to find the information on what aircraft are based where. Does anyone have a link? Or could take the time to share that information with me? I understand as well that there is a split between Domestic and International bases for each narrowbody fleet. How does that affect seniority and quality of life? Does one side or the other typically go more senior than another? Thanks in advance for any information you might share!!
