Fun to fly, performs a lot better than the Bus from what my Bus buds have told me. But it’s cramped and I have the scars to prove it. Loud too. Very hands on and busy, Kinda like an old classic sports car. That said I absolutely hate long course training and they’re gonna have to drag me off the fleet kicking and screaming (if you can even budge me outta that contraption.) Don’t try and talk me out of it cause I ain’t gonna hear you.. my hearing is long gone after 7000 hrs on it 😉

Jumpseated on the Bus a bunch. Definitely comfy, quiet. But… it’s just a weird contraption. Throttles don’t move… what are the engines doing?? Sure, look at the gauges. But still.. it was a bit disconcerting to me to hear the engines go to idle in the descent with the throttles still full forward. Seemed like there was very little “old school pilot” feedback. Not even a trim wheel anywhere. Monsieur Computer May I? Y’all can have it.

That said.. go wherever your seniority is better. Nothing else really matters… pays the same.

No trim wheels? I coulda sworn there were some there. Guess I’ll have to pay closer attention next time I’m at work.

Haha. Yeah. He must have missed it since it's not zipping away and shaving the skin off his leg!

We have a trim wheel on the bus, it’s just quiet and doesn’t take your knee caps out.

My bad. Guess there is one after all.. like someone said, very subtle and easy to miss since I’ve never seen the pilots use it. And yes I have the knee scars to prove the operation of ours, lol. I also manually trim a bunch when I’m hand flying… because it’s fun and the trim wheel is just loud AF sometimes.
I’m guessing it’s just a manual backup if stuff goes to crap?

Yeah it’s your manual reversion with trim and rudder only. Really strange backup system when all your fancy computers go goodnight.

Don't feel bad, I used to fly the airbus and had to think really hard to try to picture it in the cockpit. It's only ever used when everything else has failed.

Gotcha thx. Good to know there is still some manual backup on the fancy bus.
Hey I’m not knocking it, it’s a great aircraft given its track record. everyone I know who’s on it loves it.
I’m just a creature of habit and tend to stay on the aircraft I check out on, and they’re usually the old school ones (727, MD80, 75/76 and 737) so all that gee whiz stuff is a head scratcher for me.
Again, to the OP choose the one that gets you the best seniority/QOL and you won’t go wrong. If you go 737 remember that yes it gets ripped on constantly due to its quirks but it’s not the big bad boogeyman that everyone makes it out to be. Actually a super fun plane to fly. Just get some good noise cancelling headsets and prepare your knuckles knees and head for constant scars 🤣

So assuming you did live in LAX, more specifically SAN, 737 or Airbus to get there in the shortest time frame? Is SAN still part of the co-domicile? I understand used to be all 737 in SAN…still the case?
