Point is, I used points I had left over for hotels but found a realllly good crashpad by the airport that’s for pilots only and is a big house on a golf course with its own pool so I’m going to try that for now. And as I go forward see if it’s worth just getting hotels.

Not really actually. Folks that live in base pick SC because they fly less and have more days off (not being used). I got LC my first month bidding and this month and got the days off I wanted including 2 full weekends Friday-Monday. should get a line for March. As for picking up, you can only pick up OT with DOTC, and right now not much flying so it probably won’t happen. And the 1 or 2 here and there goes to senior folks. The way to get PM is if you live in base and see something pop up that’s in a few hours and go fast to DOTC add it and make the notification short like hour or 2. Summer will probably be easier to pick up.

Is MIA very junior at AA, like does everyone who wants it in training for the 737 get it? For hiring purposes, do they still prefer people with 121 PIC, or are they also down to taking people who have all SIC time? What would be the chances for someone for example, who was out for a few years, went to regional(non-wholly owned by AA obv)/LCC to get current in a jet again, then applied to AA?

AA is hiring folks with no TPIC. Most have other things to help but a friend told me his buddy just got hired with 2,000TT and no TPIC. So I would assume going to LCC or regional for recency, should be able to hop over.

MIA is Junior, there still is less spots in new hire drops vs LGA. So depending on your age and seniority in class you might get it (I’m 34 and luckily got the last spot in my class). But if there isn’t enough or you don’t get it, you will get MIA first vacancy, possibly faster in Mutual Base Exchange.

Curious for the people that live in MIA, where are the nice spots that won’t break the bank on first year pay yet you won’t have to worry about a bad neighborhood? I live up in Orlando currently and I generally like it but I think it’s a little too far to be driving.
