Solid wisdom right there. I’m leaning towards making the jump, my gut feeling tells me it’s the right move. Hopefully AA gives me the chance.

I’m sure you’ll have no problems making the switch from another major. Good luck on your decision!

Obviously the commuting is the biggest factor. We like Clt, are open to possibilities of moving but have a bit of our life setup in clt. Given the opportunity to not commute is a huge game changer but I feel as if there is more growth and opportunity with my current airline. We are both young with a lot of years in this career. Would appreciate any insight , thanks

I'm in the same boat. I got hired at another legacy but have a life set up in CLT and am really considering making the jump over to AA to avoid commuting. I've had my app in for a bit with AA but still haven't heard anything. Have you had any luck with your app yet?

This would cause me to have to stop flying for roughly 3-4 months in order to go through upgrade training and get a new type rating. I know that 1000 turbine is “preferred” and just trying to get on with American as quickly as possible. Thanks!

Not sure how they feel about 135 time but I got hired with 800 turbine/121 and no TPIC. If I were you, I would apply now and see if you get any traction. If you don’t in about six months, I’d plan to upgrade. If you can get some sort of meet and greet, you can ask the recruiter yourself what you need to do to be more competitive.

Has anyone received any guidance on combining similar aircraft types in the "aircraft flown" section?

I combined 170/175 and PA-28-151/161/181. They didn't have any issue with it. I do suggest an app review though, I made many small mistakes that could have prevented my app from being pulled sooner. Sometimes it comes down to punctuation (literally).

Thank you. The app review is a good idea as well. Do you mind sharing who you used?

Anybody have issues uploading a resume?

I have no problem uploading LoR's, but when I try to upload my resume, I get an "Error uploading attachments" message. Tried pdf, png, different browsers etc. Not sure what the deal is. Any thoughts?

Does anyone know where we can find a list of meet and greet/hiring events? I know the LPA is coming up but looking at other options as well.

Might be your file name. I had an underscore on mine like name_resume.pdf and it gave me an error. Seems like the app doesn't like symbols.

That worked! I had 2023 in the title and removed that and it uploaded. Should've thought of that myself. Thanks so much.

app info is gone

Hello,

I've seen several people on here say as the app moves along in the process, you are unable to update it. I'm curious what that looks like for everyone. I went to update my hours this morning and the entire application is empty. I'm getting a red error box at the top.
I completed the app on the new system and completed the pst two weeks ago. Just curious if anyone has seen this before, or if I'm just out of luck and need to resubmit the app again.

Thank you.

AA application submission

With the new system - do you get an email acknowledgement that your application has been submitted? I have completed everything and hit the “Save and Submit” button. But no acknowledgment that it actually went through.
Thanks in advance.

No acknowledgement. Just keep updating every few weeks.

The “under review” email mentions having your ATP/R/CTP document available. Does this mean you should upload a scan of your ATP (or other doc) to the application website?

If I recall correctly the only thing I uploaded before getting a call was my resume. I don’t think ATP Cert is one of the drop down options until you get the call.

For what’s it worth, I updated everything per their instructions in the review email a couple of days after receiving it, and then I got an interview invite about a week after that.

Question about the assessment:

I received the email that your application is moving forward and received the link to take the assessment with the unique code. I did all the sections but one of them kicked back an error saying it couldn't transmit and to contact support. I did so, and they reset it and I completed the remaining section and got the thanks for submitting. That's been about 2 months now.

Yesterday I went back in just to see if I could see a status or anything using the same unique code, and it looks as if I haven't taken the test at all...I filled out all the demographic info and on the next page all the testing sections are open and available.

Anyone have any ideas?

I took mine 3 weeks ago and and see the same the thing. I'm fairly confident if you finished the test and rated it, you are probably good. I'm in the same boat....Good luck

Proceeds to list every subcategory on the app. Got this email a while back, but my app is 100% complete. Is this a “fix it” email or is it standard prior to receiving an interview invite? If so, how long before you heard back?

Nah, I think you just got lucky and the bugs were sleeping. Tried to load updated resume' 3 separate logon sessions today, different filenames, still getting the error message at save & submit. The drama continues.

My self and another guy I know received the same email almost a month ago. Nothing except crickets since then.

Nightly 09-27-2023 03:14 PM

I took the skills test about a month and a half ago and out of curiosity emailed them to verify they received it. Yesterday they got back to me and confirmed they had and sent me the work trait behavior assessment to complete. Has anyone done the assessment and gotten an interview shortly after? Thanks for the help

Try filling out everything on google chrome. Once the system determines that it has sufficient information usually you’ll get the confirmation email saying they have received your application. I had the same issue, what I did was open my application up on chrome and went from form 1 and verified all the information and then hit submit on each page even though all the information was clearly there. And sure enough I got an email with the confirmation.

I am feeling a bit discouraged and curious if anyone is in a similar boat.

Currently a WN FO with ~500 hrs here in the 737. Previously flew for an AA WO. I have attended 3 job fairs with meet and greets with AA since May and each time I am told that I am well qualified and always a very positive interaction where I am told things like "you're exactly what we are looking for, I wouldn't be surprised if you hear something soon, etc."

My application has been on file since Feb and I've confirmed with the team on multiple occasions that my application is complete and published but still haven't heard anything.

AA is where I want to be as I am moving to CLT this summer and I have turned down UA and DL as I only want to leave SW for AA to be in base.

I do understand there are others with equal or even much more experience still waiting.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

deleting attachments

Anyone know the secret to deleting old or spurious attachments? I get an error message when I try to save&submit, and they just repopulate if I log out after deleting without hitting save&submit...

You seem more than qualified in my opinion. Maybe ask one of your AA friends/colleagues that wrote your recommendations to check with the recruiting team on your behalf? I wouldn't be surprised if there are bugs with the new application site and maybe they can clarify that for you.

I was having a similar issue. I worked with a company that looked at my application to see if there was anything not checked and filled out correctly. If somethings are not checked or filled out correctly the app will not publish. I used Pilot Counseling Services. My application was still not being published. Went to OBAP and talked to an AA HR person. They could not see my application on their end. Something was preventing my application from being published. That same HR person forwarded my information to their IT department. They found that one of my attached PDF Letters of Recommendation was preventing my application from being published. Once I removed the specific LOR and submitted it, I received an email shortly after that my application was received and I got the email to take the PST as well.

Hey! Yeah quite a bit, actually. But on the new app there's nowhere to put it. I have it on my resume that I've attached, but that's all I can see to do. Had the chance to speak with one of the pilot recruiters at the last meet and greet about it, too.

That's really interesting. I just texted one of the recruiters last week and expressed my concerns of a similar sitaution. They responded right away and told me that my application was complete and published and I have already completed the PST. It was sent to me automatically when they transferred from the old system to the new. Your story makes me still wonder if something is not working properly, though.

Actually, at the last meet and greet, I was speaking with one of the HR recruiters after my meet and greet and she pulled up my application from their end and I logged into mine from my end. We were looking at them side by side because I had a question about something. So that leads me to believe it is definitely visible to them. Thank you for the advice. I'm going to keep that in mind. Good luck!

Not sure how the new one looks but on the old where it asks part time/full time status you could change to volunteer. Hope that helps

They really need to fix that buggy app platform. If something like a hyphen can prevent an app from being "complete" it's poorly coded. Also, They should bring back the final "publish" button as the "save and publish" feature is confusing everyone.

Hi everyone, About a week ago I applied to American via their online application using the Chrome browser as they recommend doing. I filled out the entire application and have gone back to revise it various times, hitting "Save and Submit" at the end of each section and getting the "updated successfully" banner each time. I did not receive any confirmation email from AA after completing the application. I emailed them and no reply. Does anyone have any recommendation as to how I should proceed? Thanks in advance for your help.

Go in and modify your flight hours using the up/down arrows on the application then hit save/submit. Someone told me to do that and I got the confirmation email 5 mins later. All I did was add one hour, hit save, minus one hour and then save...
