The contract is a living document. You unfortunately cannot just read the raw language and take it as absolute. Hopefully this will be improved with the new TA.
So current contract states it must be mutually agreed upon, yet that isn't actually the case. So it's feasible that the new contract would be similar, yes?

Even if it isn't declinable, there are more restrictions in place. Overall a huge win to not be on the hook for several days.

Again: Not a win for me. I don’t allow them to keep me on the hook because I just go home.

as far as “staying in place” I asked the head of the scheduling committee. He told me under the new agreement you will not be able to decline.

I don’t make things up for internet points.

Why not wait to hear from the horse’s mouth when the road shows begin?
I mentioned that split duty is an attempt to fix it.

I’m allowed to not like this. You guys are being crazy.

Fair enough. Less flexibility is not good. You win some, and lose others.

Over time pilots are going to call out less when the average line is say 75 hours instead of 83 with highs in the 90s. It's a stepping over a dollar to pick up 50 cents approach that they do not understand because they run the airline off of spreadsheets instead of operations experience. It's a difficult position to prove to a number cruncher.

The split duty "concession"(jury is out on this) is an attempt at the above.
Nail on head.

Puss, you know that’s not true. There are both min credit and high credit trips, which are desirable for both the “I’m at work, might as well fly” and the “18 hours in Redondo thank you very much” crowd. Again, you are full of ****, you don’t use data or experience to stake your claim.

Min credit trips at AA 4-day - 21 hours of credit

High credit trips at AA 4-day - 23 hours of credit

Puss, if I can get an extra day or two off by flying a 23 hour 4-day, that is a good deal. A 6.31 one day is a great one-day. A 18 hour 3 day is sublime. The bid packs have them in spades.
