Quote: Just a reminder to get your ALPA card sent in if you haven't already done so.

With some of the things APA is doing behind the scenes, you want a professional union with national oversight watching over your futures.

Not one that has a long history of rolling over and giving management everything they ask for.

No thanks. It will be the same crap with ALPA, just with more of our money going to DC feeding the huge ALPA bureaucracy. Our problem is the culture here. I guarantee things will be no different under ALPA.

You're misinformed.

Best example: Outgoing base reps choosing their successors, and pilots having appointed rather than elected representatives, which is what happened in DFW. In DFW the pilots are being reperesented by two pilots appointed, not elected, the very antithesis of a democratic organization. Under ALPA, a vacant seat triggers a special election for an elected representative to serve.

That's just one of many, many examples.

That's all the spoon feeding I can give you.

Pilots need to really do objective research and leave emotion and resentments out of the equation.

timely post. DFW votes next month for new reps. Electronic ballots. Is that democratic enough?

If that is the best APA's got in their defense I don't see this ending well for that organization.

The appointed representatives were installed and served the remainder of the terms unelected.

Through a new labor contract that was voted on and signed plus other important items. It is unconcionable that two appointed board members sat unelected through a new labor contract as it finished up; The most critical phase of a new labor aggrement.

Let that sink in readers.

As for the vote you're referencing; This is a normal election cycle for the base.

ALPA would have had a special election to place elected representatives into the vacant seats.

Somebody was posting while boozing, or they disabled spellcheck on their company monitored phone.

But you know it’s not their best defense. So do a lot of other pilots on the list.
