Default 2025 class dates

If you have been offered a class date for 2025, would you be so kind and share which month you did your interview and when you got called with the class date offer? I'd love to include that insight in some decision making that I have to do about my current carrier.

Thanks... Mister

Have you applied and/or interviewed?

Short version is apply to every Legacy you can drive to work for. Beyond that, AA has reservable jumpseats and a pretty generous commuter policy. Can't tell you about DAL or UAL.

Get a CJO, and only then do you have an actual decision to make.

CJO's from 2023 are still out there, but there is uaually a catch to it. Many were military pilots that had an availability date many months away. When they hit their availability date, AA's classes were already full or they had ended classes all together. So there really isn't a direct formula to see how long people have had CJOs. Some were just a few months ago at a job fair, others were well over a year ago.

AA supposedly has about 500 CJOs out there right now, plus the flows. That would equal about 1000 pilots hired in 2025, but more than that are expected. Plus, Im guessing quite a few of the 500 CJOs have already gone elsewhere or will do so soon.

No one know what the qualifications will be for new hires starting in January, and what will be preferred versus required. Apply and see what happens. Hit some job fairs or recruiting events becuase that might still help.

Latest CJO with a Jan 8 class I’m aware of is a 2/7/24 interview, offered the class last week. I haven’t seen any later classes assigned yet.

Until you get a class date, burn through your vacation and sick time. Don't recommend willingly leaving employment and depending on AAs (or any other airlines) unreliable hiring practices to get you a new paycheck in any set amount of time. I know people who left a job early to take a little time off at spouses request etc. and were iced for almost a year waiting for a class date.

500 was the approximate number being thrown around by the recruitment team at RTAG which was about a month ago. AA was conducting interviews in June and the first part of July despite the last pilot indoc class being around memorial day.

Are you implying the pool may be larger or smaller than 500? AA did recently announce they have started inviting folks to interview at DFW again, so who knows?

He may have been talking about hiring numbers for 2025. I too recently heard a very large number being floated around for 2025 but I really don't believe it. I still think between 1000 and 1500.
