Default American Airlines to cut corporate jobs

Title should say "to cut"

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-11-04/american-airlines-to-cut-hundreds-of-corporate-jobs

Employees in mid-management level positions and support staff are being laid off, said the person, asking not to be named because the information is private. The cuts are affecting areas including finance, technology, commercial and communications, mostly based out of the company’s headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.

Looks like Bobby is cleaning house and outsourcing to India. Nothing says premium like talking to "Bob" in Mumbai.

Rumored to be a 4% cut which is what UAL cut last year and what they are supposed to be cutting this year; difference is AA is layoffs and UAL was attrition (according to an article I stumbled on)

In the end, the AI machine will be replacing tons of jobs today, tomorow and the future. Our own jobs will one day be replaced by AI.

Idk, that’s a corny assumption. Pieper officially started his role as CCO at American yesterday. I’d expect some more changes forthcoming with the new sheriff in town.

Cuts in this area are fine. How many of us are on here whining about the clipboarders lurking and freaking out the GAs and not really adding value to the operation? Sure, someone losing their job is a tough spot, but they'll just have to figure it out like we all have to from time to time.

Don't we have like 30% for MGMT than Daddy D? They don't add value.

On a human level it sucks. And hurts. But on a business level...it makes sense

Outsourcing or AI? Maybe a little of both? Almost across the board companies are cutting positions as AI is able to take on more complex tasks.

Spot on. I’m sorry for them and their families, but I can’t help being optimistic. Change brings opportunity, and we’re clearly on the wrong path. So it somehow seems things are trying to be changed. Plus AI doing its thing, like it or not.

Will those be the right changes and will they be enough? We’ll see…..

AI makes productive people even more so, allowing them to eliminate the "busy work" from their jobs. Those who are truly valuable shouldn't worry about AI. While AI can do much, it still can't truly think. I dislike the term "AI" because it's really just machine learning, far from what real AI should be.

We only have jobs now because the FAA says we are required. Scary thought!

That's a bit of hyperbole. I saw a Waymo delivery robot stuck in a ditch last week; we will one day be replaced but the fact we have jobs today is not because the FAA says so.
