We get 5hr/month, 60/hr. Used to top out at 1000. Looks like we'll be getting the 60+940 limit. Rolls over. If you hit zero you go on long term disability pay similar to what you have.

Your 140/270 hr annual limit seems better for new guys and worse for reasonablly healthy guys with more LOS.

 

It stunk for pre merger NWA guys who had accumulated sick time over the years. Some lost 1000+ hours of sick time in the transition. It kind of stinks to not accumulate sick time, but I'm happy with our sick policy. I don't like policies with which you accrue a set time per month(like 5 hours every month) because I feel it forces guys with very few years of service to fly sick.

 

You go on Short then Long Term Disability which is 50% of your last 12 months. That is supplemented by a 28% retirement contribution (14% of your last 12 salary). It ends at age 65. There are no premiums at all for the disability plan. We have a voluntary Mutual Aid plan, that is supposed to get you back up to 100% for the first 12 months you are on disability, the premium is quite small.

At Emirates Airline, we get two "uncertified" days per month meaning you can call in sick WITHOUT having to see the company doctor. If you're out sick for more than two days at a time (anytime) you're required to see company doctor.
We get letters from the Chief every so often telling us they see we've been sick more than the average. They can really come down with the hammer here. I got called in one time a few years ago because I apparently exceeded whatever number of sick days allowed. It was an 8 minute visit on my day off to the chief... as are all visits to the chief... on your day off, (which we don't have nearly as many days off as you stateside flyers!) Anyways, basically the chief tells me, "You're not being productive enough" Really? 800 hours a year is not productive enough, eh?

Having said that, Emirates is remarkably good and helpful when you have some serous stuff going on... cancer, heart issues etc. For some reason, they really seem to come thru for guys on this and give them whatever is needed.

We do have astronaut physicals once a year (Thank God only once a year!). I remember my first physical here.... I'm like, "Hey, chill out Doc.... if I have a real problem I'll go to my own private physician!". Come to find out your Flight Physical Doctor is ALSO your private physician.
