Horton's position is non-executive and temporary. He'll show up for a few meetings, drink some coffee, and exit $20 million richer. From an executive standpoint, it's a US Airways takeover, which is what the American pilots and other creditors wanted. Just to avoid some of the rants, I don't think US is taking over AA. It's a merger and in fact it appears the majority of operational systems and procedures will be what AA uses/has.

Much of that is correct. I know that all Boeing training will be conducted in accordance with current AA training and all airbus training will be that of USAir. Horton in my opinion did not do bad for 24mos of work, hell I wish I could get a position then be told to leave and given millions as an exit bonus.

Yes, I look at it as a buyoff, and hard to believe, but a cheap one. If Horton had stuck to his guns and pulled AA out as a stand alone he could have walked away with three times that amount. It would have been the worst thing for the company, creditors and employees however.

Beverly Goulet is from the AA side and not USAir.

Good thing they kept the AA CIO on board.

AA's IT systems are top-notch. At least they were in 1985...

Best news we could have seen for Air Ops Ops.... An outside SVP with a good reputation taking over, bringing Flt Ops, OCC, and Inflight back under one leader, and leaving the options open to select the best leadership available once we have a Single Certificate.

Maybe change (for the better) really is coming...
