I will believe a flow program when I see it. It doesn't matter what a contract says or what a judge rules. When the first person steps foot in a AA class w/out an interview, then I'll call it a flow. And I mean post 824. Until then, no flow.

Sorry to interupt Bluto, but TWA was purchased Jan-Feb 2001.

I just looked at the seniority list last night. There are 35 Flow thrus with a 09/15/1998 seniority number and they flowed onto and into class 1-10-2000.

Also a ton of flow thrus came over the last 2 years most 7,500-8,500 seniority. Many of them hold lines on the 767 (757) out of MIA and I believe they at least got 4th year pay or greater, some at 6th year pay now.

Yes, they were stopped from flowing after 9/11 when we began furloughing.

The 1998 seniority flow thrus (of which there are 35 2 are MDD medical disability) would have signed just after the 97 contract. When Jan 2000 rolled around they entered ground school at AA but got Sept 1998 seniority.

Someone mentioned they are very close to CA. They are roughly 5340 seniority now with jr CA being within a couple (200).

I am basically a dumb-a$$ when it comes to the entire process of pilots flowing in either direction. I know it takes place, but I had the seniority such that it really didn't affect me, so I didn't pay attention to it.

Now I wish I did. I'm trying to understand what's going on. Does Parker want everybody to start life at the new AMR in an RJ? If that's the case, then the only fair way to do it would be to create a single airline, with pay scales from the smallest RJ up to the 777. But that would mean a SLI, and that would be a mess to make the East/West feud look like a 6th grade playground slap-fight. Complex and ugly as hell.

The only way to do it properly would be to hire as it's always been done... more than one company, separate seniority lists, separate pay scales.

I just left the military and am targeting AA. Ive read that Miami is a junior base for an AA new hire- why is commuting to Miami so hard? I live in San Diego and wouldn't mind commuting to Miami for work. My parents live there and I could stay at their house instead of a crash pad. But keep reading that everyone says Miami commute is so hard, but nobody says why..

It's a hard commute because MIA is a junior base. You've got a lot of guys flying out of MIA who don't live there. Herds of pilots shuttle in from all over the country to cover trips, and with high load factors these days, there aren't enough empty seats to go around.

Also, MIA is a gateway to the Caribbean, and for over a decade, the leg to and from MIA doing non-rev as a vacationing family is always the hard one.

It also depends **where** you are commuting to MIA from.

My commute from Washington DC to MIA has been fairly easy ever since I've started doing it the past 9 months. Eight AA 737s a day out of DCA and 2 out of IAD, I'm occasionally in the J/S and have only been bumped off once. They tend to be pretty full but I always manage to get on.

Coming out of SAN, is probably a lot more challenging. I know if you go through DFW it is a very tough commute... TONS of senior commuters on that route.

Overall, MIA is one of the best bases due to variety of flying and equipment.

Good luck, hope to see you on property!

I live in Little Rock, and as much as I'd love to live where I'm based out of, I don't know if my wife and I are sold on MIA. It wouldn't be an easy commute I don't think. How long would a new hire sit reserve given the projected movement? And what other bases might be within reach once a pilot's been on property for a little while?

NY. Neck and neck with MIA for the junior base.

That's based on the current seniority list. Might be different with CLT/PHL/PHX options and as the older guys retire from the senior bases.

I'd rather commute to MIA! I guess time will tell where the good junior spots will be aside from MIA/NYC. We would eventually want to relocate if I ever get hired by an airline.
