DFW A320I is an all-nighter back from BOG. It's the only trip they have right now. Ouch.

When can you get ORD? Predicting anything except for LGA or MIA, and for a limited time perhaps DFW S80, is tough. When a more desire able base stops taking additional pilots the door can remain closed for a significant time.

I would imagine that in the coming years, the retirements will keep many of those doors open...maybe not for new hires, but there still should be decent movement into the more senior bases.

Some of the flows that came over a year ago have now clawed their way into ORD S80, so it's possible just about the time you're off probation IF movement continues. ORD 737 would probably take closer to two years depending on movement and how large ORD stays. If the 767 starts to dry up, then many of those might diddy bop down to the guppy if they want to stay in base, so that's a wild card.

I don't have much interest in ORD...DFW on the other hand...

Both AA and US will have around 200 or so retirements each year for the next couple years, then that number grows very quickly to nearly 1000 in about 5 years or so. With that number of people leaving, the more senior bases will have to move new bodies in, which means more opportunity for us currently at the bottom.

Yes. But what is the backlog of the current junior guys trying to get to XYZ base. That's what makes predictions so tough.

Lastest bid run had a gap of 1400 guys from the junior guy 777 FO to the secondmost junior guy. So is the bottom guy realistic for someone trying to bid the seat or is there going to be months and months of back filling??? Depending upon what you believe you could come up with wildly different predictions on how quick a guy could bid the 777 FO seat.

True...no one was saying they expected to get the base of their choice near-term. I'm telling myself it'll take at *least* a few years to hold DFW A320 (granted I can't even bid for it now, but even if I could I think it would take that long, maybe longer).

I think many are used to the old paradigm where it would take an entire career to get the base/equipment you wanted, whereas in the future, that may be possible in a few years, give or take.
