I obviously failed at explaining it clearly enough.
To address the criticism (I figured there would be some)
I did these numbers for me because it is the only way that means anything to guys near the bottom of the list. There are so many "defered furlough" guys down there. That looking at straight seniority numbers gives a distorted picture of the actual situation IMO.
Let me illustrate with an example.
If I look at seniority numbers I am 1035 seniority numbers from the most junior FO in the base I want.
However, a lot of those guys are deferred furloughs most of who, IMO probably won't be back (or they would have come back for the BK payout).
If you look instead at relative position of FO's currently "on property" then I am 438 from that same base.
That is the number that matters to me. How many warm bodies on property are there between me and the base I want....
Now if I could only figure out how many actually want that base.... ;-p I know of at least 18 and you are one of them.
In any event I did some work to get those numbers and instead of just trashing them I figured it may save someone else some work figuring it out themselves.
To anyone they caused confusion to.....
Just ignore them, they make sense, and are useful to me.
I purposely didn't use the word "seniority" in my original post and explained it as best I could. But I suppose I failed on making it clear enough for all to understand.

Exactly correct. That was the intent of my post.
I obviously failed at explaining it clearly enough.

nice job with the numbers, that puts things into perspective. Im going to guess that more people are coming back from furlough than you might guess. The reasons being theyre sitting in the left seat at JetBlue, Kalitta, and other places making more than theyd make even with the equity payout at AA. However, the big pay raise and parity review in 2016, and another 2,000 junior new hire pilots underneath them between now and then changes the ball game, theyre just timing it right. They'll be back in 2016.
Its anybody guess what will happen.
Time will tell for sure.
In the meantime though it gives a ray of hope of getting other than a transcon. commute in the next two years!

As we all know seniority means everything when it comes to choosing things whether that be a vacation bid, certain days off for kid's functions, etc. Having said that time will tell when/if I exercise my recall as a senior F.O. on the 747 and can hold Captain on the 767 here I will be filling the coffers. But when personal commitments are fulfilled for the family and I can be a reserve gypsy again with a promising retirement you just never know. So a six figure job here for the time being is better than a three year pay scale there.
Anyway, that's one perspective on a deferred decision and your mileage may vary.
