That's about right except the most senior guy in my class only had about one week after indoc. I had about 4 weeks, and there were people that started even a week or so later than I did.

For those who may be interested, I wrote down some numbers while doing a little research.

As of today.

The most junior position in the company is, DFW S80 Dom.
In the list below, the large number is relative position by base of the most junior pilot, in the most junior equipment, as an FO.
This list considers only current FO's ON property (no deferred furloughs, no long term leaves included), the rest is self explanatory (I hope):

Rel. Base Equip
4416 DFW S80 D (most junior FO in the company as of today's current info)
4415 LGA 320 D
4414 MIA 767 I
4149 ORD S80 D
4011 DCA S80 D
3912 LAX 320 D
3470 BOS 737 D
3383 STL S80 D
1212 SFO 737 D

Wow lax isnt too unattainable in the near future. I know a lot of new hires are west coasters that are eyeing that lax base. Nice!

May I ask with a little sarcasm What company is that?

You see because I am a pilot for American Airlines. And you have just posted Captain Relative seniority numbers.

And they are also wrong.

Junior captain at AA in LAX is 5550 ish. S80
New hire seniority numbers are 9959-10,050.
Junior captain in ORD S80 5300 ish.

Junior captain in MIA is 5,200.

If anyone has questions for AA pilots please ask Sliceback, aa73, Forever FO, myself, TQ Nola and there are others.

Now if the the poster was referring to another company airline that has bases in LAX,ORD,DFW,MIA,BOS,DCA,and JFK then i'm sorry that I misinterpreted your post.

Or if you were posting an AA snapshot from 1985. In 1986 AA hired it's first 5,000th pilot on seniority list.

Not completely sure but I think he's showing out of 4400 FO's where the junior guy is. So it's relative seniority amongst 4400 FO's and not a seniority number.

IE, SFO 1212 means if you're not in the top 25% of FO's you're not getting SFO.

5000 seniority was popped in late 1985. Some of the guys dropped below 5000 in 1986 and were 5000+ again after the AirCal merger.

Like Slice said - Freeflyfreak was showing relative position of the most junior FOs in each base... Not their actual seniority #s.

I had the good fortune of sharing a few beers and laughs with Freeflyfreak earlier this month in DFW while in training. He is a good dude and posts accurate stuff.

Yes he is, and I've known him for years, but I have to admit that I believe he chose a confusing way to illustrate his point. In all honesty, I believe you should've stuck with simple straight seniority numbers, Freefly...

So someone who is not employed by AA and has filled out an application and comes to this site is supposed to understand? Understand by adding those numbers to the most junior captain at AA = FO rel sen?

I know this sounds harsh.

Know the audience. I work here and I didn't understand his post.

Make it impossible to be misunderstood.

I understood what he was saying based on how he framed it, but I also see your point in just using straight seniority for the purposes of "apples to apples." Either way, how about those LAX numbers? This is going to make my herc buddies in the Hollywood guard very happy, especially if they grow LAX . Will they grow LAX?
