Latest rumors of hiring.

Last of the furloughed pilots will be recalled on September 8. Less than 200 accepted recall.

There are around 20 or 30 pilots who were previously interviewed earlier in the year that were offered positions and are awaiting class dates. Many are expected to have been hired elsewhere so the number of actual pilots awaiting class will be significantly less. These pilots will be slotted in the September classes and possibly the early October class.

Once recalled pilots are finished being recalled in September flow through pilots from Envoy, PSA and Piedmont will resume. Envoy gets 50% of the class slots and PSA/Piedmont get about ten a month. The remaining slots will be for new hires.

Interviews of off the street new hires resumed this week. Pilots interviewed this week could see class dates in October.

The combined AA carriers (LAA/LUS) have been hiring approximateky 60 pilots (recalls, flows, new hires) a month.

Apparently due to manning shortages hiring will be accelerated for the next few months. In September there will be weekly interview dates for new hires. Typically 20 in a group. Anticipating hiring as many as 90 a month (new hires/flows) beginning in September.

To meet this training bubble new hires may be hired onto the MD80 again. Retirements of the MD80 have been extended to at least 2018.

Next year is anticipated to be the largest hiring year yet as retirements begin to increase.

At least some of the poolies have been offered September 6 th class today.

That's the last recallees class.

I'd guess that the poolies will all be offered class by the first October class at the latest. The pool might be emptied with the second September class.

Could you kind of walk us thru what transpired over those two days? And did they say when to expect to hear back from them? Best of Luck!

Sorry, I don't remember the names of those who interviewed me. It was a large interview group, so there were several captains doing the interviews. However, you're only interviewed by two captains.

First day is a few hours of computer tests, after you turn in the required paperwork. The tests seem to test your attention span, attention to detail, eye/hand coord and some general cognitive ability.

The second day is the interview and it's pretty low stress. You're already there because they know you're qualified, so the interview is a conversation to get to know you and to see how you think. A few "tell me about a time" stories and two scenarios, just to see how you make decisions. Any of the interview prep courses should do a good job to get you ready for this.
