USAPA Uniform Survey

[QUOTE=CanoePilot;1556795]Because i'd rather use the millions of dollars that the company will need to spend buying back leather jackets and buying 15000 new hats for pilots on things that are more important. Just stick with the current AA uniform and buy that for the US airways pilots or Vice Versa. We can't seem to find the money to spend on nicer hotels and are stuck staying in days inns and ramadas but we have millions to buy costumes.

I agree, keep the AA uniforms and upgrade the hotels. Is it unreasonable that we should stay in the same quality hotels that Delta, United, and Alaska pilots stay?

I think the whole point of new uniforms is symbolic for the most part. That way, neither side feels like they are better than the other and we're all starting off together. The sooner this happens the better.

New uniform for everybody, tasteful, professional, slightly different from both US and AA.
Uniforms have a powerful effect... they can and do help unify a group. If I was a US guy required to adopt the current AA uniform, it'd make me feel acquired, and slightly outside-ish. Exactly the same as if I was required to wear the current US uniform. They're both fine, but I do think something new for both would serve us well.

I agree with this completely.

Second, I prefer the US uniform ... not because I wear it now, but because it is simple and distinctive. I strongly prefer black over other colors ... far easier to color-match. The thin silver stripes are unique to US.
The AA uniform, the old US uniform, or some variation thereon is the standard at about half of the regionals out there. (Navy blue, wide silver stripes, etc.) In the same way, double-breasted black with gold stripes is ubiquitous Delta. I don't want to look like an RJ pilot, I don't want to look like a Delta clone. I want to look like a (new) AMERICAN AIRLINES pilot.
Give me black and single-breasted any day. And on a personal level, keep the leather jackets. I'm not a huge fan of the look, but they are warm and convenient. (Plus I and thousands of others on both sides of the fence plunked down a pile of cash for them!) As for the hats ... they're optional at AA and US now ... why take something that works for ALL of us already and change it? No thanks.

[QUOTE=Doctor;1557814]I'm happy to drop everything about US and embrace AA all the way.
