I like hats. I'm a Marine and hats complete the uniform. I have a crew cut and don't have to worry about my hair. Hats keep my head warm in winter and keep me from getting sunburned in summer. I seriously don't understand the younger generation that hates tradition and wants to dress in a slovenly manner. I simply don't understand it.
This Marine will continue to wear his cover with his uniform.

Personally, hats make my head itch and I dont feel like walking around scratching my forehead for the next 30 years. Not all of us are bald or choose to have a tightly shaved military style haircut so looking like I just crawled out of bed everytime I take the hat off is also not appealing to me. Not to mention, unless you have a larger head and neck, they make most pilots look like twelve year olds playing dressup in daddys work clothes. I see lots of new hires in the regionals wearing them. Lots of them dont even shave yet wearing this big goofy hat. They seriously look twelve.

Wear of the cover indoors depends on tradition/situation, it is a matter of "custom" and not rudeness. Military Honor Guard and armed personnel in some services generally wear their caps indoors. The custom of not wearing a uniform cap indoors has traditionally not applied to civilian uniforms (Police/Fire/AIRLINE PILOT).

That is a completely valid opinion. If you would like to wear a hat, by all means you can continue to do so whether or not they become mandatory. However, many of us are not Marines, do not want to wear hats, or be forced to wear them because a very small group of pilots feel that the hat defines professionalism. This isn't the military, its time to move on.
