This sounds like a regional thread. Seriously 8 pages this fast on uniforms and hats........were totally f'd on the JCBA. Our egos are so pathetic and totally focused in the wrong direction. I'll just tell my family that I will be gone more often and still make barely enough to pay the bills and maybe retire before 85, but hey, my uniform and hat are more important anyway. What an embarrassment we've become.

AAG needs to buy AAG. The match would be almost perfect!

The real issue with professional appearance is the GUT. No amount of uniform regs can cover that up.

It's called a uniform, and not a multiform, for a reason.

The multiform is a U.S., and especially an AA issue.

'Hat in hand' technique wasn't 50% years ago. Most guys wore it. Hat in hand was a distinct minority. Flight department stopped caring about uniform standards and the multiform prospered.

I'm not sure I see the correlation. Pilots are an opinionated bunch and usually don't mind sharing them. I'm not sure you can draw any conclusions from it.

But, on the JCBA. It's my understanding, and I may be wrong, that most of it is done. We will live with what we have. The JCBA process is just to tie up loose ends and merge our contracts, but the bulk of the money issues have been decided. Any improvement(cost) will have to be offset in other areas and if we can't decide it goes to arbitration. Am I wrong? Because a lot of guys seem to think that there are major gains to be made.

If the majority cannot comprehend the correlation between demanding to look sharp and eventual rewards and think the uniform is "stupid" then we really ARE f---ed!

Company can choose to increase the cost in the JCBA. Arbitrator can't impose increased cost on the company.

Any improvement imposted by the arbitrator would require a cost reduction in a different section to make it a net zero change.

Wow.

I don't see any correlation between the two subjects. Concern for JCBA doesn't nullify other subjects for discussion. I don't think anyone is losing sleep over uniform issues, so perhaps it's time to lighten up ?
