You and I can agree on this. However, with the JCBA, the company can bring these low Group 1 rates even lower. This is the language that will be struck from the MTA if the JCBA passes:
4. Equipment Group Pay Relationship
Neither party shall, without the written consent of the other party, seek to modify the pay
relationship (i.e. ratio) set forth in this Section 3 between Group I and Groups II - V through
the processes of the Railway Labor Act for a period of two (2) contract cycles or ten (10)
years from January 1, 2013, whichever is later.
There will likely be a time when the market forces demand the use of more 90-100 seat aircraft. We could, in the future, bargain the above paragraph for something in return. Instead, we are handing it over in the JCBA for some money that will most likely not materialize the way many Yes voters think it will. ie., that pay raise would dry up when our healthcare costs go through the roof, thanks again to the JCBA. Anyway, we're down to the final stretch and we will soon be back to normal programming. It's been fun, guys. Yes or No, I look forward to flying with you all in the near future. Best of luck to us all!

Getting rid of it means the rates can just as well be raised if the union desires to place importance on it.
I would say if anything, getting rid of that section actually means that a large 190 order isn't a probability.
Of course, the downside is where are those planes going? Will 190's end up at the commuters?

I agree. However, if we keep it, we could realize - some time down the road - the need to alter the Group 1 rates and trade it for something that benefits us, and perhaps the company. With the JCBA, we lose that potential leverage. We'll see what happens. Cheers!

Let me put it to you like this. We had that day before the man and he rendered a decision that YOU refused to honor. Don't say a damn thing to me about seniority EVER!
Now regarding pilots and contracts, its been proven time and time again that they only care about the compensation section and not until some other portion burns them do they even crack the book to see more.

I'd guess 3rd-4th quarter 2016 at the earliest. If you can hold it and want it, have at it.
