We don't get the actual track till we are in the air so a track change would screw that up. But I guess they could just plot all the tracks everyday and send them to us huh?
Americans way to plot a track takes about 2 minutes. So it's not hard.
Probably better to plot it ourselves so there are no mistakes. Some stations plot it for you, like AMS, and I have seen mistakes. Pretty sure the one who flies it wrong would get busted vs the one who plotted it from their office

I prefer to plot with THREE (unless short international) but having the extra set of PILOT eye(s) because....NOBODY IS PERFECT!

Just not a big deal
Check the release, plan, loads, nonrev list, and the pretty WSI weather page, call dispatch to add fuel, visit with the agents re specials/nonrevs/jumpseaters/Barney's/weight restrictions, (this gives one the chance to sort out the door-closing vs. boarding nonrevs issues..) call loads if necessary and fix weight restrictions, answer a question or two from the peeps while the up-to-date correct release/plan prints, pee, get food, do walk-around on F/O's leg - thus letting them relax and flirt with the F/a's for a change - and go flying.
Don't make it hard
It just ain't

I think it is a GREAT idea. It's time pilots start doing more of their own work and taking control of their being proactive rather than the opposite. I use it too. You can get it from Jetnet.
I make it a point to call dispatch on my way to work to get the system updates and general brief. I can then brief the crew when I get to the aircraft so they can focus on doing their jobs.
I'm a "glass half full" kind of guy.

Great idea Route.
You will love searching for printer paper, oops its in a locked cabinet.
Troubleshootng printers and wondering which printer the computer your at is routed to.
Oh that 25 year old software is a joy to use too.

CCI makes it easy. Review and hit print with your favorites which should include the standby list and crosscheck for gate area jumpseaters. Explain to Agent why you aren't leaving JS's and empty seats with non-revs standing by. Watch how Alec Guiness says "these are not the droids you're looking for" in Star Wars. It works the same with agents unless you have a micro sack.
Go have a coffee or some frappeecino, stroll back at 10 minutes prior and see if the Agents are spinning in circles trying to slam the door. If there are seats available (easily checked with a APA TASC app on phone) and non-revs with the "***?" look are standing around, fix the damn problem Captain. Stroll back on jet, check and see if FA's have looked for any open seats as briefed previously, sit in seat, read "set, crosschecked, set and crosschecked, on" or whatever else some dateless dweeb in DFW came up with to justify his work worthy of an afternoon in his Mom's basement. Depart on time.
If your life is spent waiting at the jet for paperwork (my guess is fuel doesn't get added too much in that scenario), then join the Borg and forget about thinking. End of the day, you will F%%K many with that little SOP, probably yourself at some point.
I really shouldn't post after a trip. I'm just not as cuddly
