Default AA/US trip with LCA bump?

Right now in our current contract at DL, FO's can bid trips in initial bid (or pick up) trips with line check airmen and get bumped when someone needs OE, then are free to pick up open time or premium pay without any recovery obligations.

There is a rumor in the TA that is gone- apparently LCAs will bid for their trips and those are removed from the pot for FOs. Again, just a rumor.

What deal do you guys have for trips with LCAs at 'merkin?

Clamp,
At AA if you are bumped for training, you are off with pay but cannot pick up flying over the footprint of the trip and "double dip", nor is there any recovery obligation. We never even had that provision... I would like to have it but I'm a "stay at home and Enjoy the time off" guy anyway. Still great to have the option. Hope you guys don't lose it.

At LUS, some fleets have Training Lines that are bid by check airman and F/Os cannot bid them. There are only a couple of them on certain fleets, though. On the 76I in PHL, there are none. Training just buys the trip from the Captain or the F/O. I believe it's possible to still double-dip. For example, if I were a block holding F/O on the 767 (which I'm not) and Training bought my F/O seat for OE on an international trip, there's a chance that I could pick up the trip in the S/2 (2nd IRO) seat and get paid for both.

That is exactly right, actually you can pick up either IRO seat on same trip, or another trip.

When I offered to buy 5 FAs a round of beer in EDI lobby, they gave me a funny look, I said today I get paid more than the captain :-)

At LUS you can definitely double dip as of last month.

The 190 guys have it made. Since they are always doing training my buds that have been on that plane for a year are off all the time. They are also being held at either Group II or III pay, doing 90+ hour lines, and flying only half of it. I'm sure it'll come to an end soon but had I known that I would've bid it as a new hire!

I personally think double dipping on bought cka trips is a bad idea. All it does is encourage the pilot *****s out there to take more flying and ruin everything for the rest of us. Be happy you have the paid time off. I wish we went back to the old days of max 85 hours of credit per month. If people didn't get greedy maybe the airline would be staffed right. Another thing that should be forbidden are those guys who who pick up part of trips and make a 17 hour three day now a 13 hour three day.

You fly domestic don't you? I only say that because international is quite easy with many days off and your statement is not very thoughtful as it pertains to that. Often times there are only 10 or 12 actual work days a month. If it is a good trip you can drop a $hit trip later in the month.

Right staffed? Curious, how much sick time did you use in 2014? I used about 120 hours.

Not that I want to answer for him, but he's new. I'm new. Lots of us are new and have very little sick time. In fact a hospitalization last year wiped out everything I had. It's not easy to just go unpaid.

Good job burning 120 hrs to get the manning right. I did about 375 in the last 12 months.
