LAA LUS AWA What Base Will You Bid Post SLI?
#113
We've already been displaced. Most of my trips don't go through PHX. I'm based in PHX, but fly what PHL, LAX, CLT, MIA, DFW pilots would normally do. Those 737 pilots aren't based in PHX, they just fly or DH in. Probably start downsizing as a pilot crew base sometime after Oct 1st.

If you're still flying out of PHX you're not displaced. The majority of my n/b career I'd leave my base and never touch it again until the last leg home. That's what happens when your base is a small percentage of the overall flying. It's simple math.

The crew mixing is F/A's with pilots from the 'other' side. And LUS guys flying LAA airframes and LAA guys flying LAA metal. It's not LUS pilots flying with LAA pilots and everyone picking and choosing bases/bid statuses.
Post SLI I'd guess the company will be able to reassign across the 'other' airline fence. Eg, right now if an LAA guy goes sick in PHL the replacement will be an LAA guy from DFW/MIA/JFK. After October I'm guessing they'd be able to cover it with a PHL LUS guy. That's assuming the contract can be applied across the 'other' fence regarding covering trips.
LAA guys either didn't get the 831 file or I can't find it. Probably the later. Does it make any predictions when bunny hoping into 'other' bases will be allowed?

How are they ever going to deal with the looming training nightmare that is coming? They have problems now getting through 60 new hires a month without having to hit pause every once in a while to let the log jam clear up.
What is going to happen when there is 1,000 retirements a year, 100+ new hires a month, and the massive amount of seat to seat training cycle movement the retirements will create?
Do they have any proactive plan at all for how to deal with this or will they just wait until it's too late for the whole system to crash and fall apart as usual? Seems to me the only way they will be able to deal with it when it gets bad is violate the contract and seat lock everyone to keep the whole airline from imploding when this shltstorm really hits 5-6 years from now.

I think 2017 will bring a lot of surprises for all of us as Kirby moves his little airplanes around the board.
The PAB will need a lot of wisdom to deal with this SLI. I hope they have it.
