I have never jump seated with Atlas before. How many jumpseats are there on the 747? or is there any separate area where the jumpseaters sit?

Depends on the airframe, 4 or more, although if the flight has a fully augmented crew, only 3 may be available. They are comfortable seats, similar to FC seats before full-flat seats were implemented. JS are on the upper deck so CASS is required.
welcome aboard, we are happy to have you!

The more the merrier and perhaps there won’t be room for me for company last minute movement; therefore, off to the ticket counter for a lie flat. I do understand it’s not only easier and more comfortable at times on company metal, but it’s a good break hopping the ponds once in awhile and getting points with your beverages of choice. Anywhere lower 48 to ANC, you bet company metal. There are exceptions.

Yes they are.

I have not flown JS on Atlas before, and I have a few questions. Hoping to get to SIN, and looks like going through ICN is a good option. I know that I'm responsible for entry requirements (visa, vax, etc) for each country. But how are the various fees handled? Meaning, country departure fees, airport security, etc? Is there a way for me to find out in advance what these fees are? And how do I pay them?

Also - looks like there is a 12 hour layover at ICN. Do I need to exit and clear Korean customs, or can I just wait at the Atlas facility for the next flight?

Finally, is there a way for me to see the status of space available as the flight date draws closer? I realize that I can be bumped last minute, but wanted to see if I can at least have a sense of number of seats remaining in order to gauge the risk.

Thanks!

I’ve never paid nor heard of anyone having to pay any fees like jumpseating internationally on a pax airline. I would assume that you would have to clear customs, unless they allow you to go through transfer security and you stay in the airport/airport hotel. You would be meeting your crew typically outside of security. Unless you’re an Atlas guy, I don’t believe there is a way to check seats available. I wouldn’t even worry about it. Your JS confirmation email should tell you everything you need to know, unless they aren’t doing it that way anymore.

No there are no fees on Atlas unless there is a country with a visa on arrival (you pay at the customs counter, Jordan is one country that comes to mind) unlike some of the major airlines which have you pay the taxes on the jumpseat back into the USA. In ICN you would wait in the terminal. If you are waiting for another Atlas flight in ICN, there is no place to wait other than the terminal and associated facilities. There are several hotels near the terminal which can also be accessed via the free maglev local train or shuttle bus.
No there is no way to see the "space remaining".... youll be just fine on the ICN-SIN-ICN route.

Hey Guys, I’ve found all the Atlas information on ALPA.org for OAL pilots looking to jumpseat internationally. However, as best as I could tell, there isn’t any information on where to check-in for flights at the departure airport. Specifically MEM, ORD, LAX and HNL. These airports have multiple cargo facilities, so how are OAL pilots to know which curb to get dropped off at?

I can’t seem to find contact info for the Atlas JS coordinator on the Atlas JS policy on the ALPA App. All I have is contact info for my airline’s JS coordinator. Am I best to ask my JS coordinator? Is it possible for OAL pilots to talk to Atlas JS coordinator? TIA

There's a security aspect to telling you where to go on a public forum. If you're listed, give our operations number a call and they'll tell you a good place to meet the crew.

Thanks. Yah, I’ve never done a JS on Atlas so I was unaware a phone# would be available to OAL pilots after making the listing. I’ll do that when I make the listing. Thank you!
