Question [News] Now In house ATP and Type Ride

Hello,

I heard Atlas was sending new hire without ATP to get the ATPL in a light-twin, but now they are doing the 737 and Type ride together, no need light-twin ATP ride. Anyone went through this new program?

A friend of mine starts Monday and he just did his ATP in the light twin. However, he is going to the 74. So as far as I know Atlas is still sending folks to a light twin for the wide body fleet. Not sure about the 73.

I spoke with a chief pilot about 2-3 weeks ago who said they were working on bringing it in house. As far as I know, it's not in play yet and you will still be doing the ATP ride in a light twin.

Thank you! My class date is March, I'm guessing they will roll the new course out by then?!

Sorry for the redundant post, but two threads are asking about the ATP program

The company will bring candidates without ATPs to Miami to attend an ATP/CTP course in house. 737 candidates will then join a class and complete their ATP checkride along with their rating ride. The other fleets will be sent to fly light twins (most often in Orlando, although other locales are used).

During the ATP training you are provided transportation and housing and the company absorbs all costs associated with the ATP training. If one chooses to fly a simulator (must be current in said type) they will absorb a cost differential. One joins the company, receiving a seniority number and pay and benefits the day you begin Basic Indoctrination. Currently 737 candidates will go to indoc after completing the ATP/CTP, others after attaining their full ATP.

I think I got this right, for now.

I understand that current new hires into the 737 will now be indoctrinated into this new program.

Thank you so much! Very clear! I was wondering, but afraid of bothering the on-board team too much.

On the company presentation it sounded like they're working on doing the ATP during the type rating for other fleets as well...anyone have any timeframe for this?

The next class showing up for the B737 has new hires which will complete their ATPs during their Atlas training. The 73 fleet is the only fleet approved to perform ATP checkrides at this time. Folks assigned to other fleets will need to attain their ATPs in the same manner that has existed for a while.

Is the ATP in a light twin before or after indoc? And are there any breaks before/after?
