I'm sure there's a reason they accept resumes as well as ask many questions similar to what's asked in the HR portion of the interview.
I'm not sure one would go so far as to say its NOT a part of the screening process. Besides, WIA is a job fair of sorts, and more than one male has gotten a call from attending. Otherwise DB, or any of the other nice HR folks wouldn't waste their time showing up. Not like they need to advertise. But no doubt DB and her crew remember those that attend and may place them in a special pile for consideration... Above is pure speculation on my part...I have no inside info to support that. Good luck. |

Hey are there any of the new guys in class at Atlas on the forum now? If so is the hotel letting us use the grill on the deck?????
I will be there this coming Thursday for 15 days and was hoping to do a pork butt, a brisket or some ribs hell I might even smoke another FATTY!!!! Anyway any info would be greatly appreciated!!!! Cheers, cargo and yes my advise to everyone is (as always) to 'drink heavily!!!!' |
So I have to ask, for those that interviewed today, tie or no tie? Whats the consensus? Thanks
|
I saw the interviewees walking around the training center on their tour and it looked like mostly "tie." Only a few non tie.
After sim, we saw HR burning the resumes of everyone who wore a tie!! (only kidding) |
I wore a tux and got the job. So go figure...... Wear what you are comfortable with, minimum is business casual, that's all. Just enjoy the experience, don't worry be happy, they are all nice peeps.
Yes I only work in the kitchen but I still had to go through the whole interview process. |
I know of at least one phone interview that went on today, watch the phones.
|
I'll beat GVinflight to the question....
was this person from the current application window or one of the people who attended a past job fair and Atlas is now just calling them? |
Aaah! See, I turn the phone off for a moment on a commute, and someone else beats me to the question. Nice job F15. But alas, the question remains!
|
Current window, details to follow
|
Im just curious, what type of questions can one expect on the phone interview? Is it a semi get to know you conversation or do they ask technical questions? Thanks in advance!!
|
From the multitude of postings, I have gathered that the phone interview is geared towards getting to know you and WHY you want to be a part of the Atlas team and how you are a good fit for Atlas and how Atlas is a good fit for you. I'm sure they will reflect on the possibility of being away for extended periods of time, and they want to know that you and your family are good. With longer schedules.
|
And they will continue making clear to you that 17+ day trips are something you can hack...assuming you make it to the next round for the face to face in Miami, they will ask you that very question in a hundred different ways to make damn sure you are not going to waste everyone's time (and your own).
This is the time to hunt for information about Atlas Air, our customers, our management, our business model, our fleet, our basing scheme, etc...a great place to start is Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings and this thread...start from page 1 and don't stop till you get back here!! Good luck... |
GV, thanks for the reply. Im hoping to get that phone call. From the people I talk with and the attitudes and personalities in this forum, Atlas appears to be the best thing going. A good friend of mine has been there 12-13 years, he loves every minute of it.

Thank you 744. Thats great info and advice! Wilco..

August 2012 Atlas Interview
744 Driver is right on. The biggest thing they are worried about is your ability to hack the long trips. 17-21 days. They focus on it again and again in the interview.
The interview is the same as listed before in this thread. Intro, PRIA/Background Paperwork, Essay, Tour, Resume Review, Technical Review, and Pannel Interview(HR/Pilot/Ops.) Take note that the Resume review is with "el Jefe," so treat it accordingly. Plan on the overall interview process taking all day 0700-1800. You might get out early, but it probably won't go past 1800. It was a great experience. Be yourself. They are looking for variety. They want pilots from all backgrounds. Our interview group was evenly devided: Previous 747, current 747, milatary only, RJ, other ACMI, contract, and corporate pilots. All age groups, races, and genders, so if you think you want to do this, take a tough self-evaluation and if you think it matches your career/lifestyle ambitions, put in your PAQ. Good luck. PS: They are going to be doing alot of hiring over the next 18 months, primarily into the 744. Need 75 by end of year and 12-24/mo all of next year. |
What area code do they call from
|
I relish the possibility of only doing 1 trip a month. Even though it may be for 20 days, is till enjoy the principle of it.

On the "Do I really want to work for Atlas question?" Do yourself a huge favor and ignore the equipment. Would you want this job if it were well maintained some other type airplanes? After a month or two the 74 is just another airplane, there is nothing magical about it. For me, the best part is the upper deck. If you want this job just for the airplane you will be miserable quick.
On the other hand, if the lifestyle fits you, I think you would be hard pressed to do better on the "I like my job" part. Money, that's another story. Take a hard look in the mirror and then decide. |

Take a hard look in the mirror and then decide. Bingo! Well said, Whale. I know few folks who, when it's time to go to work, say "Excellent! I get to go to work now!" I'm one of them. And as to the money part..... It's all relative ;). As a second year F/O last year I made the same as a 13 year 737 captain did back at ATA. |

Equipment is only a secondary product remaining from the original question "what do I want to do for a living". Flying is flying, but loving to go to work each and every trip is the greatest thrill. Personally, I'd rather fly an Airbus over a Boeing, but no company can offer that position in the type of flying that I want to pursue. But hey, to get a 74 type and maybe later a 76 type and have a blast at work? What more could you ask for?
|
By the way, anyone get a call?

Just had a pulse surge....had a 9....1.....last number....wait for it....was a 3.....no winner in today's lottery.
:( |
Hrmmm...the anticipation is burning....
|
I know the wait is killing all of us. Has anybody that went to the WIA conference back in March received a call? Email? Text? Morse code? :) anything?
I think the power button on my phone is getting ready to go out from turning it on and off so many times to check it. |

You may want to have a doctor check you out. As much as I'd like to wait by the phone for a call from an airline, I still have a life to live. |
Thanks BYOB. At least one is better then none.
|
Does anyone have access to a Atlas seniority list right now? Please PM me. I have a quick question
|
The waiting and anticipation is for the furthering of a career. The plan is to get it going big now so I can REALLY start to live my life. Ther is a lot weighing in
and even more awaiting outside of the regional airlines. Plus a little heartburn. Good deer chili. |

In two weeks I should have elk chili ready to go. Just need to get out and stick one with an arrow.
|
I'll be ready if you need help consuming.
|
If I land an interview and a job at Atlas I'll bring elk chili with me for the days when the rain is falling on the grill.
I've been watching a nice 6X7 bull all year. Shouldn't be a problem finding him, I just need to be within 60 yards to finish the job. |
