So we got a 777?!?! Oh wait under Titan. It's being leased to AeroLogic? Anyone with a good grasp of what Titan is, please explain.

I'm pretty sure Titan is the leasing arm of AAWW. And AreoLogic is the joint venture operation of DHL and DLH.

P.S. here's a link for titan:

NightIP 03-11-2013 10:11 AM

I have Google Alerts set for Atlas, and woke up this morning to read "Atlas Air, B777F." Got my hopes up until I read further right and saw "Titan Leasing." Oh well... good for the bottom line at least. :D

HercDriver130 03-11-2013 11:23 AM

Call Sign "German Cargo".......We(K4) have done several charters for them in the past year. All out of EDDP.

Hey guys I got a call for the April 1st class. Best of luck to everyone interviewing and in the pool. Interesting news about the B777. Looking forward to joining this terrific company.

744driver 03-11-2013 02:56 PM

Is that a 747 class or 767 class?

Pavedickey 03-11-2013 03:31 PM

I'm pretty sure it's the 74 class. Same one I'm in.

NightIP 03-11-2013 04:28 PM

Congrats, guys! :)

Anyone know if there are any plans for a vacancy bid award on the 15th? As I understand it, they come out on the 15th of the month on an as-needed basis?

You are the sole person based at Thule.

Congratz!

Pave Dickey is right. Its for the 747. Can't wait.

adastra3437 03-11-2013 06:10 PM

Got the call for the April 1st 747 class as well!
Fortunately my swim in the pool lasted only 3 days. Great things are happening with this company, and I just feel fortunate to be joining the ranks.
A huge thank you to all those who contributed to this thread. Good luck to those still hoping.
Congratulations to all the fellow new hires. See you all at the iconic "grill", if it even exists!

Congrats mate, see you on the 1st.

KYTBRD 03-12-2013 08:57 AM

I can guarantee you the grill exists. Whether or not you use it is you to you and your Class. We've had a few nights at the grill that have ended early and a few others that end up in a cab. It's all up to you. Congrats and welcome. We'll still be here when you arrive.

Brrrr!

After my seven trips to Thule I've stopped calling any weather in the contiguous US "cold", it's only "chilly"!

This picture must have been taken in the late Spring. First, the sun is up; and second, I never saw the ocean thawed when I was there!

Lobaeux 03-12-2013 09:19 AM

Thule is actually very cool.
Painted runway, "30 days of night", I was constantly looking for vampires, feeling like a rock star at the bar (we were the only crew in there for a good amount of time), not as cold as Manas, but cold nonetheless.

Top of the World Club? Not much in the way of other places to go...

Did anyone ever teach the folks at Dundas how to cook a burger without completely drying it out by flipping and pressing over, and over, and over?

Oh, well... It's still the most interesting stamp in my passport.

Quick question: What is the monthly guarantee for a first year guy at Atlas flying 74s? (Not sure if its different during the probation period) thank you

chip1 03-13-2013 07:39 PM

50 hours per month

Cobbs - Congrats on the class date and welcome aboard.

Training pay is $1600 per month (plus per diem while in MIA and on OE) until completion of OE or 4 months whichever happens first.

Thereafter min. guarantee is 50 hours per month at $75.75 ($77.27 starting Sept. 2013). This pay continues until you go on second year pay which will be the first day of the month you were hired (I was hired on May 30 and effectively had only 11 months of first year pay).

This first year pay is the same for 74 and 76 pilots. Most first year folks see much more than the 50 hour min. each month. Once I started OE I averaged about 72 hours - YMMV so you should really only count on the 50 hours and reap any additional hours as a bonus.

Prior to starting class you might want to consider doing some reading about Atlas; the schedules, the pay, the lifestyle, and especially the training program. Doing so may help your transition into the company. Many pilots do this while prepping for the interview. BTW, answers to your question can be found earlier in this thread and/or two clicks away in the APC airline profiles ...

OSAVIP 03-13-2013 08:08 PM

Cobbs, from the way you worded your question I guess you're not interested in the 76? The 767 also has a 50 hour guarantee the first year, then 62 after your first year is complete. :D:rolleyes:

Edit: Wow, you're already hired and didn't know this...nevermind.

Seems like lots of new guys on here asking lots of questions. I've found myself going back and looking for specific info, even after I read the 500+ pages. Found this gem today and it took me right to the answer of my question. Thanks to the guys that put this together!

I knew I would take some flak by asking a question like this...haha Despite being 99.9 percent sure, I wanted to ask again. (Trying to buy a house...the banks have new rules in effect) Thank You all for the info, I really appreciate it.

HercDriver130 03-14-2013 04:09 AM

All a bank or finance company will count is guarantee x rate. They will disregard per diem...and even if you can show "over guarantee" pay from the past they will say there is NO guarantee of that.....if you need to show income best to wait until you are on year two.

HeavyHauler 03-14-2013 05:23 AM

Also for Cobbs, you will not start receiving your per diem until the end of the second month you are in training. I started in early January and did not see a per diem check until the end of February due to the way Atlas reconciles pay. Plan accordingly especially depending on what health and 401K options you choose. I saw some rather small checks for the first two months.

cobbs0323 03-14-2013 06:53 AM

Wow, good stuff to consider....Thank You

That's true...I started training on 1/29, finished on 2/26 (short course), and won't see per diem for February until the 3/31 check (actually, I guess it'll be 3/29). I had enough savings to float me, but yes, it does require some planning. Looking forward to getting done with OE and on full pay... :D

Donkey McFish 03-14-2013 09:49 AM

cobbs - Were you non-current when you got picked up? I saw the AF staff job and I am sitting in one myself. Haven't heard of a single non-current pilot being hired and am looking for hope. Thanks.

744driver 03-14-2013 10:06 AM

Just saw today's group finely-dressed candidates in the Training Center...for those that are curious, ALL were wearing ties, most in suits, and a couple in blazers and slacks...but ALL in ties.

So, can we put that one to bed?!!:D:rolleyes:

I dunno.......I didn't wear a tie. :D

He only referenced two in the group wearing pants so...

cobbs0323 03-14-2013 12:11 PM

Donkey,

Sorry to be a dream killer, but I was current despite the Staff Job. The AF sent me downrange as a MC-12 guy. The MC-12 (KingAir 350) gave me a 'free' ATP, 700hrs, and most important recency of experience.

There was one a couple of classes behind me. He was an AMC guy.

Not to pick on Cobb, but it's posts like this that has me scratching my head about the HR dept. Some others who have just submitted and get called? Just another frustrated ACMI-dawg patiently waiting. BTW, congrats Cobb, good luck!

Not really a hiring question but I'm a new guy about to start OE and I have ATL as my gateway - just wondering if anyone knows of good (cheap) place to park around the airport since I'll have to drive to ATL to start my trips.

Thanks Guys.

PS I did read this whole thread prior to being hired and it was invaluable - and I don't remember this question being asked:-)
