Still flying the rich around. Wish I was flying freight.

I shall nominate you for the Nobel Prize. You are much more worthy of the honor by helping your fellow human beings to improve their lives than the Wall Street puppet in the White House on whom the prize was farcically awarded too.
I tip my hat to you Sir

PS. I flew the rich and stupid around too, Atlas is a MUCH better job.

Three days of interviews this week...Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Good luck...

trout 04-10-2013 12:27 PM

Has anybody been offered a 4/22 class date?

C6vette088 04-10-2013 01:06 PM

Would anybody that has had a phone call/interview date care to post their basic qualifications? Just trying to figure out how some of us are stacking up to the competition! Thanks!

RJCapt 04-10-2013 01:52 PM

They pick from all Qual levels. From no PIC 121 to + 10.000 hrs. No rime or reason. Best advise is to apply and update and cross your fingers.

Rime? Rime ice?

Rhino12 04-10-2013 07:39 PM

Dietrich John W who is EVP & COO at Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:AAWW), sold 10,000 shares at $39.11 per share for a total value of $391,090. The shares recently traded at $40.03, up $0.92, or 2.35% since the insider sale.

744driver 04-10-2013 10:32 PM

These inside trades happen all the time...what's you point? It is just part of a disclosure statement...what's the big deal in selling 10,000 shares?!!

Yup, I'll be there, with bells on!

5500TT, 747-4 type + acmi experience, management experience, 1700-1800 TPIC, all turboprop though. Civilian time only.

Thanks to all contributors to this thread, it was definitely a HUGE help. I'm already paying it forward with some friends who are trying for the interview.

My grilling strengths are bratwurst, BBQ chicken, gourmet burgers and premium beer, hope I can be of assistance!

Thanks for the info RV8, and congrats! When did you get the call for the class?

MX442 04-11-2013 05:27 AM

I grill killer ribs and brisket. Oh, and I can fly heavies too. I would love to get the call. Going to see Atlas for the job fair tomorrow!

I'll see you there on the 22nd: 6000TT, 4000PIC, all military heavy.

My grilling skills are rudimentary at best...but I make beer.

I've been applying for years, updating every month or two. Got the screening call in Feb, interviewed March, pool email a week later, then class date call two weeks later.

Good luck to all, it is a great job and a great company!

Thanks again to everyone here!

I got a call today for the class on the 22nd, someone had to withdraw. Unfortunately they used a contact number from an old resume, I called back in 3 hours but the position was filled by then. Congrats to whomever it went to. I hope to be called for the next class.

DocN788RV 04-12-2013 05:50 AM

Congratulations! It will be nice to see another RV-8 flyer in the mix. You'll love it here everyone has been great and it's a great bunch of guys they've been hiring. Unless I have a sim on the 21st chances are I'll meet you at the grill Sunday night when you roll into town. I'll be the guy with the cigar and plastic cup of fine Irish whiskey.

Hiphop 04-12-2013 12:40 PM

Any word on the guys that interviewed this week. Has any of the guys that interviewed on Tuesday heard anything.

av8r1103 04-13-2013 01:10 PM

Congrats RV8

Congrats RV8, I've just updated for the first time since Summer - I guess I'll try to do it monthly now! Trying to transition out of the 135 game where I'm averaging 3.5 weeks away per month with NO hard days off... and on the cell phone tether 24/7. I have a friend inside trying to help me out but haven't heard anything as of yet. After seeing that you've been applying for "years" - I certainly don't feel bad about 8 months of not hearing anything... (although I'd LOVE to hear something soon!) - Keep us posted on how class and everything shakes out for you. :)

av8r1103 04-13-2013 01:27 PM

Dammit, I never added the "Grilling skills" line on my resume! I'll have to fix that... Specialty: Bacon wrapped Jack Daniel's BBQ Shrimp

trout 04-13-2013 06:07 PM

Anything wrapped in bacon is cheating !;)

gilz16 04-13-2013 08:32 PM

I see they are calling people with different levels of experience...is it reasonable to even apply at 2100tt and 1100turbine? RJ time.
I was surprised their minimums went down, on a side note I can grill some killer ribeyes and asparagus........yes asparagus married with bacon.

Any word on when the next interview dates are? I was invited to the Apr 9-11 interview but was not able to attend due to work schedule that I could not change. I'm eagerly waiting for the next interview dates, but as of Apr 8 they had not identified further interview dates.

Prowler 04-14-2013 09:46 AM

Any insight into if Atlas has hired guys with recency issues? 50 TPIC in 12 mon, 2500TT, 2100 TPIC, 1600 ME.

Paok 04-14-2013 10:43 AM

Going on day 4 at airport out station hotel that doesn't have a washer/dryer. $2 per pair of socks etc to have laundry done. Does this happen often on the road? Do most hotels not have laundry??? I am going to have to plan this out much better.

I like ex officio undershirts, boxers, and socks. They do great with sink-washing, when required!

atpcliff 04-14-2013 12:26 PM

I take clothes to last at least a week. Sometimes I wash in the sink. I try and plan it so I can get laundry done somewhere cheaply. MIA, HHN, PVG, HKG all have cheap laundry available. A number of the hotels have laundry equipment you can use (like HHN).

Paok 04-14-2013 01:34 PM

Just called ahead to my next RON locations to see if that have laundry and got some hand washing soap. Thanks :/

744driver 04-14-2013 01:46 PM

Most of our hotels in the US have laundry facilities...both RMS and HHN in Europe have machines also...

If you (sorry, as a 767 pilot, not likely but could happen) make it to HKG, ICN, PVG, etc cheap laundry shops near all of our hotels...SYD hotel at Coogee Beach, I don't remember.

I can't afford exofficio (!!) but I've been wearing Columbia, North Face, Eddie Bauer, etc quick dry stuff for a long time...and sorry, I don't do laundry in the sink!! I plan ahead and get it done at a shop (in Asia or Mid East) or use coin-operated machines.

Another thing to remember is to have a "cruise shirt" available on the freighters so at TOC (definitions vary!!), you can jump into one and get an extra day out of your white uniform shirt...

Whale Driver 04-14-2013 03:07 PM

TOC?

Oh, I get it. Top of climbing the stairs. :-)

bloomerpilot 04-14-2013 04:10 PM

Sydney has a place right across the street from our hotel. It's just past the hair salon on the corner.

Extra day, I can make a uniform shirt last a week.

And ANC has a washer and dryer in the room next to the crew room.
