BayBum, I interviewed on the 13th with amhess. I'm in the pool as well...I'm 767 typed and 757 current but not sure what to make of your comment. Are you thinking I'm in a longer wait until a 767 class rolls around? Ahoy amhess, glad to be enjoying a swim with you. Cheers From what I have heard several classes in the near future are going to be 747 classes, so as long as classes are being formed you are likely going to the 747...IMHO. Good luck. |

Since never. Its a joke. The guys flying the biggest equipment on the property will often refer to the smaller airframe (such as in the case of the Atlas 767) as the scooter or the light twin or some such thing. When I told one of my Whale-driving buddies that I would be flying an A-320, he said "thats a cute little airplane". Its an example of "mine is bigger than yours" humor.
The better joke was "will autoland for food"... Guess you had to be here. |

I'd like to think that your points score is what will get you in a class now that we have plenty of experienced 767 guys on board and currently flying the 767. That sucks, but keep your head up!!!! |
That is going to be greatly reduced after the afgan drawdown. Unless some new activity happens.

How can it be a heavy when you only have 2 motors? BayBum |
Just got the call to take the online test. I have read this entire thread and have a good idea on what the questions will be. Has anyone taken the test recently who might have remembered some other questions?
Thanks in advance for the help |
I keep hearing that the ATP Test Guide is still the most helpful source...in addition, also download the North Atlantic Track doc that has been mentioned before.
Good luck. |
aclangkd, I just sent you a PM.

Funny how they are spending money to advertise the job on "bizjetjobs" when there are many that submitted resume and PAQ w/ Hvy, Int'l time that have never heard anything in response.

I submitted over a month ago, and re-submitted about two weeks ago. Nothing so far.
I had ten thousand hours, six type ratings, heavy, worldwide, overwater, yadda, yadda. Took me eight months to get the call. Meanwhile, they were hiring regional guys with less of those specific quals. Turns out that they like to hire a broad cross section of backgrounds. It is not at all just about the numbers on your resume. It is about getting well qualified pilots who really know the company, really want to work here, and are really great people to get stuck in the cockpit with for those loooong trips. They also have a lot of resumes to choose from. Hang in there and be ready for the phone call upon first contact because they also like applicants who are ready when called. Oh, and they also seem to like folks who have a lot of patience... Keep trying. 8 |
Oh how I love hearing heavy guys complain about RJ guys getting hired. Maybe a quality RJ pilots have is humility and not thinking they deserve a job. Just a thought.

At the time, I couldn't understand why I wasn't getting called because my quals were so much like the flying that Atlas does. Now (and what I intended to imply) I understand it is not only about the quals - everybody Atlas hires is well qualified from corp to RJ to mil to furloughed cargo guys like me - but it seems to be more about the quality of the person and not so much about hours or the equipment. 8 |

Keep trying. 8 There were several co-workers from my former job that got called in rapid succession, then it came to a screeching halt. Like you said, I guess they are trying to get a good cross-section of the market. I was just outside of that cross-section for the moment. |
It's ok 8, didn't really mean to stir the pot, but just couldn't resist :) I think you hit it spot on. A cross section is what they are hiring. And I must say they have been pretty good a picking people.

Can any current atlas guys that know how to use our FedEx discount please pm me. I tried following the instructions on GlobalNet but I guess that doesn't work. Now we need an account #, not just a discount code.
(Sorry I know this doesn't belong in the hiring thread but this gets the most Atlas eyes!) |
I just take my ID with me and go to the FedEx office. I use Atlas and my employee number as account number.
|
That doesn't work here in shanghai. The FedEx people have no idea what I'm talking about. They need a account number.
